This sermon explores the intertwining of divine providence and human initiative in Ruth's faithful actions, guided by Naomi's wisdom and trust in God's sovereignty.
Good morning, beloved family of God! I'm delighted to see each one of you here today, ready to receive from the Lord, ready to be filled with His Word, ready to draw closer to Him. Isn't it amazing how He always meets us right where we are, in our moments of joy and in our moments of sorrow, in our triumphs and in our trials? Isn't it wonderful how He uses every circumstance, every situation, to shape us, to mold us, to draw us closer to Him?
Today, we'll be turning our hearts and minds to the book of Ruth, specifically Ruth 3. A passage that beautifully illustrates how God's divine providence and human initiative intertwine in the grand tapestry of His sovereign plan.
In the story of Ruth, we find a woman of great faith who took action. She didn't just sit back and wait for things to happen. She moved. She went out into the fields to glean. She listened to the advice of her mother-in-law and presented herself to Boaz. She was active, not passive. And in her movement, in her action, we see the manifestation of God's providence.
Ruth's actions were not random or haphazard. They were purposeful and directed. She went to the fields to glean because she and Naomi needed food. She presented herself to Boaz because she recognized him as a kinsman-redeemer, someone who could provide for her and Naomi. Her actions were driven by faith and necessity, and they were blessed by God.
