STEPPING STONES OF FAITH
Text:Matthew 12:28
This great invitation, that Jesus extends to everyone, has 3 powerful stepping stone for you faith.
1. Come and receive salvation.
John 12:46 “I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.”
Luke 9:55-56 “…you do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.”
John 3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
2. Come to learn in discipleship.
Disciple defined: Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior. A systematic method to obtain obedience. A state of order based on submission to rules and authority.
The Lord wants us to follow His example…be willing to be corrected.
Not W.hat W.ould J.esus D.o? rather W.hat D.id J.esus D.o? THEN DO IT!
John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also….”
3. Come to serve in yoke with the Lord.
The Lord does not expect us to “guess” his will, but to walk with Him in His will.
The yoke involves instruction under discipline. Yet, in contrast to the teaching of the Scribes, Jesus’ yoke is easy.
Matthew 23:4 “For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.”
There’s an old gospel song I’ve sung many times. But it’s message is not true. “You’ve Got to Walk That Lonesome Valley By Yourself.” Jesus is the only one who walked the lonesome valley alone…SO WE WOULDN’T HAVE TO! Instead He promises “I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS.”
He walks the valleys with you!
He climbs the mountains with you!
He crosses the deserts with you!
He rides out the storms with you!
These 3 Stepping Stones of Faith:
Come and receive
Come and learn
Come and walk
