Summary: The church must stay on mission for Jesus in order to spread the gospel.
Text: Acts 14:1-28
Title: Staying the Course
ETS: Despite persecution, Paul continued to faithfully preach the Gospel.
ESS: Despite outside interference, we must continue to spread the Gospel.
OSS: I want the church to be on mission for Jesus.
PQ: How can the church faithfully fulfill its mission for Jesus?
UW: Ways
I. To fulfill its mission, the church must be unified in God’s purpose (14:1-7).
A. To be unified in God’s purpose, we must attend worship (14:1).
B. To be unified in God’s purpose, we must avoid worldly wisdom (14:2).
C. To be unified in God’s purpose, we must always work for Christ (14:3-7).
1. The apostles preached in Iconium when they were accused (14:3).
2. The apostles preached in Lystra when they were abused (14:4-7).
II. To fulfill its mission, the church must utilize God’s Power (14:8-20).
A. We must utilize God’s power through healing (14:8-10).
B. We must utilize God’s power through preaching (14:11-18).
C. We must utilize God’s power through trusting (14:19-20).
III. To fulfill its mission, the church must understand God’s priorities (14:21-28).
A. We must understand God’s priority of discipleship (14:21-22).
B. We must understand God’s priority of prayer (14:23).
C. We must understand God’s priority of fellowship (14:24-28).
