Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
This sermon encourages believers to confidently share their faith in Christ, confronting falsehoods with the truth of the Gospel, always with gentleness and respect.
Good morning, beloved family of God. Isn't it a beautiful day that the Lord has made? Every sunrise is a fresh canvas painted by His hand, a testament to His unfailing love and faithfulness. As we gather here today, let's turn our hearts towards the unchanging truth of God's Word, our compass in a world that often feels adrift.
Today, we will be focusing on 1 Peter 3:15-16, which reads,
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame."
In this passage, Peter encourages us to stand firm in our faith, to bear witness to the transformative power of Christ in our lives, and to confront untruths with the undeniable truth of the Gospel.
As we prepare to delve into the richness of these verses, I am reminded of a quote from Billy Graham, who once said,
"If our minds and hearts are not filled with God’s Truth, something else will take His place: cynicism, occultism, false religions and philosophies—the list is endless."
This is a stark reminder of the world we live in, a world that often seems to favor falsehood over truth. But we, as followers of Christ, are called to strap on our shoes of truth, to stand firm in our faith, and to bear witness to the hope we have in Christ.
Let's start our time together with a prayer.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day, for the gift of life, and for the privilege of gathering together in Your name. As we turn our hearts and minds towards Your Word, we ask that you would open our eyes to see, our ears to hear, and our hearts to understand the truth You have for us today. May we be encouraged, challenged, and transformed by Your Word. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
So, friends, are you ready to believe boldly in our faith? Are you ready to bear witness to Christ's impact? Are you ready to battle falsehoods with truth? Let's get started.
Our faith is bold, robust, and vibrant. It is a faith that dares to believe in the impossible because it is anchored in the One who makes all things possible. This is the kind of faith that Peter calls us to have. A faith that is not shaken by the storms of life but stands firm, knowing that our God is greater than any storm.
This bold faith is a response to God’s grace. We believe because He first loved us. We believe because He has revealed Himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ. We believe because the Holy Spirit testifies to the truth of the Gospel in our hearts.
This faith is not a blind leap into the dark. It is a confident step into the light. It is based on the solid foundation of God's Word, which is truth. It is nourished by the sacraments, which are visible signs of God's invisible grace. It is strengthened by prayer, which is our lifeline to God.
This faith has to be a public declaration. It is a proclamation of the Gospel in word and deed. It is a testimony to the world of the hope we have in Christ. It is a call to others to come and see, to come and taste, to come and experience the goodness of God.
Our faith is born out of the joy of knowing God and being known by Him. And of experiencing His love, grace, and mercy. It is the joy of serving Him and making Him known.
In our utter dependence on God, our inability to save ourselves, we boldly confess our need for a Savior.
While we have faith and declare it, we are not guaranteed a trouble-free life. But we are promised God's presence in the midst of trouble. Our faith is an assurance of His peace that surpasses all understanding. It is a hope that does not disappoint because it is anchored in the One who has overcome the world.
This faith is not a ticket to heaven. It is a relationship with the God of heaven. It is a fellowship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is a participation in the divine nature, sharing in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.
This is the kind of faith that Peter calls us to have. A faith that is not a timid, shrinking thing, but a bold, robust, and vibrant thing. This is the kind of faith that we are called to live. This is the kind of faith that we are called to share. This is the kind of faith that can change the world.
Having established the importance of a bold belief, we now turn our attention to the transformative power of Christ in our lives ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
