Message Point: We must support those who are in spiritual leadership over us.

Focus Passage: Exodus 17:8-13

Supplemental Passage: Romans 15:30-31 “Now I urge you brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, that I may be delivered from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the saints.”

I. The Rod – brought the plagues; led the people out of Egypt, and just brought water out of a rock

a. It is good to look back and see what the Lord has done for you.

II. The Hand -

a. Joshua’s hand in battle did not grow weary.

b. Moses hands in prayer grew weary.

c. God’s hand cannot grow weary.

III. The Rock -

a. When Moses grew weary, he was seated, not upon a chair of state, but a stone.

b. When he could not hold up his hands, two came to his support.
