Summary: Spiritual pride is a self-made fortress where we think we are superior than others, our doctrine is more correct than others, we think we know God more than others, and that we don’t recognise the need for repentance. We always compare with others.

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

The only place where God cannot save you is the place of spiritual pride (God's power is infinite, but God is unwilling to save the proud, until they repent). Unless we repent, God is not willing to save you from the fortress of spiritual pride. Spiritual pride is a self-made fortress where we think we are superior than others, our doctrine is more correct than others, we think we know God more than others, and that we don’t recognise the need for repentance. We always compare with others.

The tax collector’s prayer was accepted by God rather than the Pharisee’s prayer(Luke 18:9). Pharisees did not recognise the need for repentance. Pharisee’s heart had become hard and rigid by their doctrine and good works. Works and doctrine without the life of Jesus and the Holy Spirit can harden our hearts. During Jesus time, it was very rare that a Pharisee or Sadducee was saved. Jesus always rebuked the Pharisees’ works and doctrines. Spiritual pride is a self-made fortress in our hearts, where our sins are hidden, and where we develop a self-righteous nature that blinds us into believing that we don't need repentance, thereby nullifying God's power. The fortress of Spiritual pride becomes a stronghold of the enemy.

Repentance and the power of God are directly connected. Repentance is one of the ways in which we can experience God’s power. It’s easier for a sinner to repent than a Pharisee to repent.

Pharisees were blinded by their own doctrines, beliefs and good works. Today, check your lives to see if we have become like Pharisees. Spiritual pride can hinder your spiritual growth, nullify the power of God in your lives, and can lead you to your downfall. Let there be no traces of spiritual pride in your lives. Repentance is one of the ways we can protect ourselves from Spiritual Pride. Spiritual Pride is one of the most lethal diseases that can destroy us. Though you may have known God so much and witnessed God’s mighty visitations, never think you know God better or more than others and come to a place of Spiritual pride.

You comparing yourself to others is the first sign of spiritual pride. You know God better or more is only because of God's mercy, not because of your hard work. Always acknowledge that all of your spiritual growth is because of the mercy of God. If you come to the place of pride, your spiritual growth is stopped, all of your good work will be eaten by the disease of spiritual pride, and you are led to your downfall. If the humble fall, they can get up, but it is quite difficult for a proud person to get up after they fall. Stay humble.
