Fear not! Abraham – Part 2
Genesis 12:10”And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.”
We need strong faith to combat severe famine! Friend, I’m not going to tell you that you would never face problems and things will always be cozy and rosy all the time, but instead I say today, even in the midst of calamity, we need to collect ourselves and trust in Him. Today, we have huge bunch of people who preach on prosperity, success, victory and gold but very few educate people to stand in the midst of famine, so much so, when good Christians go through a barren period, the devil suddenly pokes his finger in front of them and whispers, ‘you are useless.’ Hear me out today, there is no hopeless situation for God, learn to grind your teeth, dig your heels and wait upon Him.
The most sad part of the episode is that Abraham had two lovely visions of God where he gets direct message from Him; yet, Abraham fell to disbelief and doubts. Alas! Friend, Abraham’s fear was based on hallucination, he said, ‘when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife'; and they will kill me, but they will let you live.’ Crazy! We are no better, are we? Many of the ‘fear’ is based on ‘what if?’ ‘What if I lose my job?’ or ‘what if I fall sick?’ Or ‘What if I don’t get through?’ or ‘what if my marriage fails?’ and what not! This is the lie of the enemy but meditate on the words of God and combat negative thoughts. Look what Apostle Paul tells his disciple Timothy:
1 Timothy 4:15,16”Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” Faith comes not through the web or through any book but only through meditating the Bible. Continuously I have been writing on faith and also sharing my testimonies with you because I spend a lot of time prodding into the Bible everyday.
The world tells a lie that if you earn hard, save much and smartly invest, you can have a relaxed, luxurious life until death but sadly our plans don’t work that way. Since we have pushed God and His Word away from our life, we are ill-equipped to face the calamities that might suddenly come our way. Let me quote what God tells: Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10) Have you read this scripture before? Such ‘pearls’ are hidden inside the Bible! The Lord categorically states, ‘Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer..’ Who would say so? We don’t have to fear because He will strengthen us! Amen.
It was the second day of the ‘fire camp’ and after preaching about the spiritual battle that Abraham had to face in his life, I was about to do the final anointing and pray but suddenly I had a catch in my throat and my voice failed. It was actually panic situation. I wrote a note to my husband to continue to pray while I recoup my health. The devil whispered: ‘you are finished, you cannot speak again.’ While my team desperately prayed for me for 10 minutes, I picked up the mike again and not only prayed but sang a high pitched song and praised my Lord for the miracle. Fear not!
