Youth Sermon: Spend Me

Money as a Tool

Here's the thing, money isn't bad. It's like a hammer, it's just a tool. We earn it, save it, give it, and yeah, we spend it. But we gotta be careful not to blow it all on stuff we don't need.

You know how our culture is always telling us to buy the latest iPhone or the coolest sneakers? Well, as followers of Jesus, we gotta be smarter with our money. If we're always broke, maybe it's a sign we're living beyond our means. We gotta live within our budget and avoid debt.

Money isn't bad. It's like a hammer, it's just a tool.

Biblical Wisdom on Money

You know, the Bible tells us not to spend money on stuff that doesn't satisfy. We shouldn't waste our money. Instead, we should spend it wisely.

Let me tell you a story about John Wesley, a famous Christian dude. He saw a poor maid who needed a coat, but he didn't have enough money because he had spent it all on stuff he didn't need. That experience totally changed how he saw money.

Contentment and Generosity

We often look at what others have and want the same. But we gotta be cool with what we have. We should be grateful for what God has given us. Paul, a follower of Jesus, learned to be content in all situations. We can learn from him.

A lot of Christians give back to God the first ten percent of their income. This is called tithing. Tithing can help us break free from materialism and trust God more. Even when money is tight, we can trust that God will provide for our needs.

We should also be willing to share what we have with others. Our stuff should be available for God to use to bless others. We should be generous and use our resources to do good.

Practical Application

Here's a practical idea: next time you get some money, before you spend it, think about how you can use it wisely. Maybe you could save some, give some, and then spend some.

Prayer

God, help us to use our money wisely. Help us to be content with what we have and to give back to You. Help us to focus on You and not on our stuff. Amen.
