God is always ahead of time, and when He wants to do something, He plans far in advance. For instance, when God wants to send a revival, He prepares a young person or a team by giving them a burden for the revival long before it takes place. Consider Evan Roberts, who was prepared for 11 years before the revival happened, or John the Baptist, who was prepared for 40 years in the wilderness to be sent before Jesus.
But how does God prepare in advance? He selects young people and gives them a burden or glimpse of the great work. These young people will be trained in the wilderness and live a lonely lifestyle, even to the point where the devil will not be aware of them. The world may consider them as weird people, but God sees them as torchbearers of a great work. Wilderness can be a place near Mount Sinai (like Moses), or perhaps your church with a large number of people. The wilderness is a place where God breaks and builds you.
The burden is the sign of their calling, and they must work on it with prayers and persistence until it has become part of their being. The burden becomes the personality of the being. John the Baptist became a prepared rugged all terrain vessel of God, where no area of his life was left untouched by the burden of God. His burden influenced his fasting, eating habits, prayer, and personality. The burden become attached to him. When he spoke, it was like arrows piercing the hearts of the sinners, breaking them down.
John the Baptist was the spark for the work of the first coming, preparing the way for Jesus. In this generation, we need many John the Baptist's to ignite the end-time work. We need people with the burden of God and the revelation of the God’s great work to provide sparks for the end-time revival. This burden should be about the spiritual state of the land, sin and repentance, and the great work should be centred on Jesus - spending eternity with Jesus.
Whenever God gives us a burden, we should start praying and preparing. Ask God to fill us with His end-time work burden and may we become vessels that create a spark for the end-time revival.
