SOWING AND REAPING

Psalm 126:5,6 Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

This psalm indicates that sowing can be hard but reaping is a joy. In order to receive the joy we often have to encounter the sorrow. This sermon teaches on principles of the harvest both old and new.

Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

As we sow so shall we reap.

Genesis 8:22"While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease"

This verse tells us that there will always be a time of sowing seed and a time of harvest. It is never too late to start sowing seed. However, we may have to reap what we have sowed in the past before we can reap a new harvest.

Proverbs 11:24-25"One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."

Galatians 6:7-10 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Ephesians 6:8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

•Notice whoever, saved or unsaved – do good – they will receive same from the Lord

Luke 6:27-38 “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, “bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. “To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. “Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. “And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. “And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. “Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

• We Can’t do Anything About Last Year’s Harvest, But We Can About This Year’s

HARVEST IS DETERMINED BY THE KIND OF SEED PLANTED

• One prayer will not change twenty years of sowing seeds.

We determine the kind of harvest we produce by the kind of seed we sow; we determine the size of the harvest we produce by the quantity of seed we plant.
