SOW YOUR SEED, CAST YOUR NET, AND LET GOD HANDLE THE HARVEST
By Rev. Scott Epperson

(Mat 13:31) Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
(Mat 13:32) Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
The Power of the Word
We need to understand the power of the word. We go through life looking for answers a lot of time and looking for purpose and all along it is in our hands.
Truly the Gospel is the seed that the scripture speaks of and to most men it seems to be the least of all seeds or in other words of all of the ideas and philosophy’s in life the Gospel seems to be the least appealing, but when it is planted it will grow and become a tree. I am talking about something firm, something established with root that cannot be blown about by the winds of life. That is what we need people in this world something firm and consistent, something unfailing and something that will replenish.
Now then the scripture says that then it will grow branches and limbs and the birds of the air will come and rest in them. There are two ways to look at that now.
#1 (Jam 1:17) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
When you are founded upon the Gospel good things, heavenly things will rest upon your life. If we will allow God , he would open up the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that you cant even contain.
#2 Or think about it like this, all those birds are flying around looking for a place to land and rest and it was upon the greatest tree that they chose to find rest. What does the scripture say?
(Mat 11:28) Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
There are people going around seeking for a place of rest a place to find security and peace and church it is time we offer the world something else other than religion and ideas about their situations, and philosophies that don’t hold water. People are looking for rest, that is what Jesus gave to us, and we should freely give it to the world.
Evangelize the Word
You having trouble with a neighbor or a family member, or a co-worker? Next time they start doing their little thing they do, sneak into their heart their field and plant some gospel seed. You cant force the gospel on anyone, but no one can refuse some love, some joy, some peace etc….. sneak into the field of their heart and plant something that will take root and change their course and the course of those around them.
(Mat 13:19) When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
(Mat 13:20) But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
(Mat 13:21) Yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
(Mat 13:22) He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
(Mat 13:23) But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold some sixty, some thirty.
I read this and it confused me. Why? I couldn’t understand why anyone who knows anything about farming and cultivation would ever take good seed and plant it among the wayside or in other words on the road were they knew it could not find root?
Or among rocks were it could not possibly find depth why among such a shallow ground?
Why among thorns were there was no room for it?
Then I realized the sower was not called to make the decision of were Gospel is to fall but only to sow it every were, among all places.
How judgmental we are at times though our hearts were full of stones and though our hearsts were full of thorns though we were living about the wayside Christ sowed the Gospel in our hearts and time and time again until something happened. Church don’t ever try to help God just obey him and his commission
