SERMON TITLE: Sons and Daughters of God

MAIN TEXT: John 1:12 (KJV) "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."

(Note: The term "sons" in scripture represents both male and female heirs of God's Kingdom. We are all sons and daughters in divine identity.)

INTRODUCTION

Beloved, hear me by the Spirit—until you accept the revelation of your identity, you will continue to live beneath your divine privileges.

We are not ordinary. We are not beggars of grace. We are not victims of circumstances.

The Bible does not say we shall become sons and daughters of God when we die—it says, to them that believe, He GAVE power to BECOME the sons of God. It is a present reality, not a futuristic hope.

I. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A SON OR DAUGHTER OF GOD?

Being a son or daughter of God is not a religious title—it is a spiritual position, a legal identity, and a divine birthright.

The Greek word for "sons" here is "tekna", meaning: Legitimate children born of divine origin—carrying the DNA, rights, and authority of their Father.

It means:

You carry God's nature.

You have access to God's resources.

You are backed by heaven's authority.

You are not ordinary—you are divine royalty in human form.

II. YOU ARE BORN, NOT MANUFACTURED

John 1:13 says, "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

You didn’t become a son or daughter by human arrangement—it is a divine birth by faith in Christ.

When you received Christ, your identity changed:

Heaven recognizes you.

Hell fears you.

Creation expects you.

Romans 8:19 declares, "For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God."

III. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD

i. Divine Authority

You are not a victim—you carry the authority of heaven.

Luke 10:19 — You trample on serpents and scorpions.

ii. Divine Access

Sons and daughters have unrestricted access to the Father.

Hebrews 4:16 — Come boldly to the throne of grace.

iii. Divine Nature

You partake of God's divine DNA.

2 Peter 1:4 — You are a partaker of the divine nature.

iv. Divine Responsibility

Sons and daughters don't just enjoy privileges—they enforce kingdom agenda.

Matthew 5:9 — Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.

IV. BREAK THE ORPHAN MENTALITY

Too many believers live with an orphan spirit—feeling abandoned, insecure, and inferior. But God did not save you to tolerate you—He saved you to adopt you.

Romans 8:15 says, "Ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

You are not a spiritual beggar—you are a son or daughter. You are not an outsider—you are family. You are not under Satan’s feet—you are seated with Christ in heavenly places.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION OF IDENTITY

Declare this boldly: "I am a son or daughter of God! I carry divine nature! I walk in divine authority! Heaven backs me! Hell fears me! I am not ordinary—I am born of God!"

CONCLUSION

1 John 3:2 declares, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God..."

Let the reality settle in your spirit—now, not later. From today, reject every lie of the enemy that says you are weak, forgotten, or insignificant.

You are a son. You are a daughter. You are chosen. You are empowered. You are unstoppable.

FINAL PRAYER POINTS

1. O Lord, open my eyes to the reality of my sonship and divine identity, in the name of Jesus.

2. I reject every orphan spirit assigned to make me feel inferior, in the name of Jesus.

3. By the authority of sonship, I silence every accusation of the enemy over my life.

4. O God, let my life manifest the evidence of being your son or daughter—power, favour, and dominion, in the name of Jesus.

FINAL PROPHETIC WORD

From today, you will walk like a son or daughter of God.

You will speak with divine authority.

You will command with boldness.

Creation will recognize your manifestation.

Heaven will respond to you.

Hell will tremble before you.

You are God's son. You are God's daughter.

You are empowered. You are chosen. You are unstoppable.
