Summary: Why do we always seem to forget to call God all the time, unless we are in trouble?

Someone forgot to Call God Again.

By Rev. Chaz M. Brown

Why is it that we always forget to call God unless we are in trouble?

We always forget to call God until there is an accident.

We always forget to call God until there is a fire taking someone’s home.

WE always forget to call God until someone gets jailed.

We always forget to call God until someone gets hurt or sick.

We most definitely forget to call God when we wake up in the morning and fail to thank Him for such a great day outside, and for the night.

We are about them most ungrateful people in the galaxy of life.

Now I don’t want to stomp on toes, some of us do call on God in the times of need, and in times of great happiness.

My aunt and I were speaking online Thanksgiving evening, and I told her I kept walking past my table in the dining room and kept noticing something was missing. I had worked the graveyard shift at a local convince store. I was very tired, and knew that I needed some sleep before I headed over to my sister’s house for dinner around 5 p.m. I had seen my coffee mug with a half-cup of coffee from the day before in it. I stood there and looked at that empty chair that was near by.

I was reading in my bible this morning. A bible that is now falling apart and was given to me by my great grandfather and the Salvation Army. My great grandfather often preached the good news. He was a soldier for the Salvation Army for many many years. I am often reminded of the times, before his death why we need Christ. My grandfather once said on the pulpit these very words from the Book of Matthew 10:32 (word for word from New International Version.)

Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my father in heaven. Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn

A man against his father

A daughter against her mother

A daughter in law against her mother in law

A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.

Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Who ever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Lets stop for a few minutes and take a look at the times we turn against someone. We caused great pain towards someone. I can recall my father and I not being close at all. There was a period in time my father and I didn’t talk to one another for a long time. My great grandfather loved his family, and his friends. He didn’t like seeing anyone fighting. I remember one day he said, to keep reading God’s word. It will never be to late for you to be with him. When you read his word, you are already there with the Great Creator.

My Great-grandfather’s biggest love in the physical world was God himself. He let you know it also. He didn’t feel that you had to have medals on to prove you are a hero. He didn’t believe that you had to be in the newspaper to be a celebrity. He believed that you are already a hero, a celebrity, a child in the eyes of God. I had to believe the same thing. I was also one of them people who was angry at God for every little thing in my life. My great-grandfather tried endlessly to get me to see God’s point of view. I won’t go there today.

But I have also found in the Book of Matthew 10:28 - 30

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Whenever I feel troubled or bothered. I love the passages from Matthew 10:28-30. It gives me great strength that the Christ will be there for us.

But still why do we forget to call God or Christ every day. I am just as guilty as the person next to me is. We all forget to call upon the Great Father and His Son.
