Somebody Call 911

An important consideration when accessing Public Safety Services is understanding when to use 9-1-1.

If you are unsure as to the immediacy of the need, dial 9-1-1 and let the responder decide. Example: If your car has been broken into, but the perpetrator is nowhere in sight, do not call 9-1-1; use the non-emergency number listed in the telephone directory. If you observe someone breaking into your car, call 9-1-1; there is immediate need for assistance to stop/catch the person.

If you call 9-1-1 by accident, do not hang up. Stay on the line and tell the operator what happened. If you hang up, police will be sent to your home to find out why you hung up and are not answering.

The nation-wide emergency public safety number, 9-1-1, is for emergencies only.

What is an emergency? An emergency is any crime, medical situation or fire that is in progress, or any crime that has just occurred and the suspect is still on the scene or there is a possibility of apprehension, and any personal injury accident or any accident including any including any of the above criteria.

What is an Emergency?

Crimes in progress

Suspicious activity (Prowlers, someone unfamiliar in the neighborhood)

Medical emergencies

Fires

Serious accidents / injuries

Person shot / shots fired

Person stabbed

Robbery / burglary in progress

Natural disasters; (tornadoes, earthquakes, etc.)

Fights

Live wires down

(This is the area of our thought today, when we see a wire down we all tend to back away and set up a perimeter around it and tell all to “stay away”, (saints fallen) “don’t get to close”, “stay away from them”. Although you may see a wire down REMEMBER that they are still hooked to the power source, there is still power being supplied, it maybe disconnected, it still has power going through it. It may be severed, but still alive. It is a shame, in the church today, we are more willing to shout out “somebody call 911” instead of calling out to God for those that are down. We are more willing to stand back and set up that perimeter, then to lend a helping hand to the saints of God when they are down)

Hebrews 4:16 says;

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

*Where do we go for help???

~This we go to the Throne of Grace for it.

~Go to where the Father is.

~For it is His throne from where grace flows.

~We go to him with confidence, freedom, and boldness.

*This throne is undoubtedly the throne of authority, but in it, the believers can find grace.

Psalm 121:1-2 says;

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

~My help comes from above.

*Although your friends may forsake you, your family may, your jos may, the bank may, the church may, the government may, we must look past all these and see that our help is not in them but our help copmes from above. From the Lord.

Hebrews 4:16 goes on to say...

...that we may obtain mercy and find grace....

Mercy is: pity or compassion

Grace is: our help and support

~When we are calling on God, He knows our very situation and sends the help we need

~First, He sends mercy, and it reaches us no matter where we are.

~Second, He bring us into a area in which He can favor us with His grace.

*The Prodigals Father in Luke 15

1st. He had compassion toward him.......(which showed His Love for the son)

2nd. He clothed him with the best robe.

3rd. He feed him with the fattest calf.......(which showed Grace toward the son)

~Mercy and Grace are always avaiable to us, just call out for it!

I Peter 5:6 says

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

~We need to humble ourselves towards God/The Father.

~The son said make me one of the servants....not restore my place.

~In doing so, he found the grace needed.

Psalm 46:1

To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth.>> God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

~This shows us that there isa calm place for us to find.

~It is at the feet of Jesus!

Isaiah 41:10, 13-14

10. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
