SOME THINGS THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT GOD

Text-John 17:3

"And this is life eternal, that they might know

thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou

hast sent."

Everyone is a theologian. Everone has their own

ideas and beliefs about God. Some say He doesn’t even

exist. Others say He is so far removed from the world

that He is unknowable. How much do we really know

about God? Any beliefs that we hold about God need to

be Bibically based. What does the Bible reveal to us

about Him?

I. First of all, did you know that GOD HAS NO BIRTH-

DAY?

He has always existed, so He had no beginning. He

will always exist, so He has no ending.

Psalm 90:2-"...even from everlasting to everlast-

ing, thou art God."

That is hard for us to understand, because we had

a birthday, and most likely, we will have a day of

death, but God is greater than we can ever fully

comprehend in this life.

II. Secondly, did you know that NOTHING EVER TAKES GOD

BY SURPRISE?

You see, He already knows all that is, all that

has ever been, all that will ever be, and all that

could have been. He is eternal, so He sees the

present, past, and future all at the same time.

Isaiah 46:9-10,

"I am God, and there is none like me, declaring

the end from the beginning, and from ancient times

the things that are not yet done, saying, My coun-

sel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure."

Nothing ever happens without His permission, and

He has determined what will happen in accordance

with His soverign will and plan.

III. Thirdly, did you know that GOD IS PRESENT EVERY-

WHERE IN THIS UNIVERSE, AND BEYOND?

He is not limited, as we are, by time, space, or

distance.

John 4:24-"God is a Spirit(KJV)." He is not limit-

ed by a physical form, although He can manifest

Himself, and has done so, in a physical form.

Jeremiah 28:24-"...Do not I fill heaven and

earth?"

Psalm 139:7-"Whither shall I go from thy Spirit

or whither shall I flee from thy presence?"

IV. Fourthly, did you know that GOD IS ALL POWERFUL,

AND THAT NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH HIM?

Matthew 19:26-"...with God all things are possi-

ble."

Daniel 4:25-"He doeth according to his will in

the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of

the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say to

him, What doest thou?"

Acts 17:26-"And hath made of one blood all nations

of men for to dwell on the face of the earth, and

hath determined the times appointed, and the

bounds of their habitation."

V. Fifthly, did you know that GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING

THAT THERE IS TO KNOW. HE EVEN KNOWS ALL THAT

YOU EVER THINK OR DO, AND WHY YOU DO IT.

Psalm 139:16-"Thine eyes did see my substance,

yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my mem-

bers were written, which in continuance were

fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."

Job 42:2-"I know that thou canst do every thing,

and that no thougbt can be withholden from thee."

Matthew 10:30-"But the very hairs of your head

are all numbered."

VI. Did you know that GOD IS WILLING THAT NONE SHOULD

PERISH, BUT THAT ALL MIGHT RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE?

2nd Peter 3:9

VII. Did you know that GOD HAS PROVIDED A WAY FOR

YOU TO KNOW HIM PERSONALLY, AND TO BECOME HIS

CHILD?

John 3:16-"For God so loved the world, that he

gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever be-

lieveth in him should not perish, but have ever-

lasting life."

John 14:6-(Jesus speaking)-"I am the way, the

truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the

Father, but by me."

Conclusion-I’ve only scratched the surface talking

about the greatness of God. He is so much more, but

these things I have shared with you to encourage you

to respond to God’s offer, and receive Jesus Christ

as your Savior, and Lord. Do it now. You’ll be

eternally glad you did.
