Some Things the Devil Does Not Want You to Know by Gerald Van Horn
Ephesians 6:11- 12 “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
1. Satan does not want you to know that he has a kingdom.
Paul the author of Ephesians lists areas in which Satan operates:
*Principalities, a small state or empire (Greek) Arche, various applications of order, time, place and rank.
*Powers (Greek) Exucsia, right to act from a chief ruler.
*Ruler of this world (Greek) Kratopas, ruler of darkness. Ephesians 2:2 & 1 Peter 5:8- 9.
*Spiritual wickedness in high places, infers that there are people in governments, kings, dictators, etc. that are under Satan’s influence. He is also ruler of the heavens above us. He is also called the prince of the air.
These all have one thing in common, they hate God.
We would add that Satan’s kingdom is fragmented and divided as all in his kingdom are contentious.
They never can come into unity.
2. Satan does not want you to know that he knows the Scriptures.
Luke 4:9- 12 v.9 “And he (Satan) brought him (Jesus) to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence. v.10 for it is written, he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: v.11 And in their hands they will bear thee up, lest thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God.
Satan is quoting from Psalms 91:11 omitting “in all thy ways.” Jesus quotes back at Satan Deuteronomy 6: 16-"Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God".
3. Satan does not want you to know that he was once in heaven.
Luke 10:18 “And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from the heaven.”
Jesus is speaking to the seventy.
Ezekiel 28:15 “Thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou was created till iniquity was found in thee.”
Ezekiel 28:17 “Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness; I will cast thee to the ground.”
From these Scriptures we conclude:
*Satan was created a beautiful angel. Cherub is just another name for angel.
*He was cast out of heaven.
*Satan tried to exalt himself above God. Isaiah 14:12-13
*Satan is a created being.
*Iniquity was found in him.
4. Satan does not want you to know that his doom is sealed.
Revelation 20:1-3 “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the keys to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. v.2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, v.3 and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled; and after that he must be loosed for a little season.”
Revelation 20:10 “And the Devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
* We conclude that Satan is not one to be feared.
* He has no power over a child of God.
* Satan is a deceiver, liar and thief and he comes to kill and destroy.
