Summary: Things in this life can weigh us down, but God intended for us to soar like eagles!

Soar Like An Eagle

Sometimes in our battles we try to fight the enemy on his terms and in his territory. Eventually we get beat down or defeated. God never intended for us to fight this way. He intended us to soar like eagles. Eagles fly higher than their enemies. They stay out of reach of predators. When pursued by a predator, and eagle will fly straight into he direction of the sun blinding their enemy. We too should fly in the direction of the “SON” when pursued (Jesus Christ).

Isaiah 40:30,31

ISA 40:30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

ISA 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

What are 5 obstacles that keep us from soaring with God?

1 Sin-We can never be free to soar when we are slaves to sin.

2 The Flesh-We cant soar when we are weighed down by temptations of this world.

3 Religion-We cannot soar when we are bound by religion. Some religions don’t encourage reading the Bible, prayer, or fellowship.

4 Satan-He can put doubts in our minds and obstacles in our lives. All of his methods are meant to draw us away from God. He can keep us hanging onto past hurts that further ground us.

5 Ourselves-Perhaps the greatest obstacle for us! By subcumming to all the above, we prevent ourselves from being free to soar. By refusing to pray, to read the Bible, or go to church, we place ourselves on the ground where we are easy pray for the enemy. We have no one else to blame if we are attacked.

How can we soar like eagles?

-By overcoming the temptations of this world.

-By keeping our eyes fixed ahead to the promise of what God has in store for us.

-By being involved in a church with strong biblical teaching and foundations, that encourages fellowship, reading the Bible.

-By being in church where you can freely worship and are not spiritually bound.

-By having a spirit of revelation for scripture.

-By not believing the lies that Satan will implant in your mind. If you know he is a liar and a deceiver, why would you want to listen anyway?

-Believe you you will be healed, believe you will overcome, believe you can resist him and watch him fall away as yo climb higher and higher towards Heaven.

What are some of the results of not soaring with God?

-You will not fully inherit all that God has in store for you.

-You will not inherit the peace God has to offer you during tests and trials.

What is preventing you from soaring with God?

1 Financial Hardship?

Phillipians 4:19

19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

2 Depression?

Psalm 40:2

PS 40:2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

3 Doubt?

Mark 9:23

MK 9:23 " `If you can’?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes."

4 Your Circumstances?

Romans 8:37

RO 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

5 Fear of Failure?

Phillipians 4:13

13 I can do everything through him (Christ) who gives me strength.

6 Fear Itself?

2 Timothy 1:7

7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

7 Not Knowing Jesus?

2 Timothy 1:8,9

2TI 1:8 So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

ILLUS-The hiker, the farmer, and the Eagle.

CLOSING

Without Jesus, we cannot overcome all that prevents us from soaring above this world. Trust Jesus to help you spread your wings and start flying towards the Son-Of-Man. All things are possible from he who saved us from he who sought to keep us captive and prevent us from soaring like an eagle!
