SMALL SINS, SECRET SINS, SILENT SINS
Sin has affected everyone and sin has entered into everyone that has lived on this earth except Jesus Christ, He is the only person that has walked upon the world and not committed a sin, Jesus was perfect, he was sinless and He became our perfect sacrifice for all of mankind.
In the Bible we see where sin has shaped how we are today. Sin has transformed this world into a downward spiral ever since the Garden of Eden.
Today I want to touch on the subject of sin, sometimes we admit to ourselves that they might be small sins, secret sin or even silent sins.
If you will turn with me to the very first book in the Bible
Genesis Chapter 3 verse 6-7
6- And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eye and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat and gave also unto her husband with her and he did eat.
7- And the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked and the sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.
1 Here we have read such what seems like a small sin.
One little apple, one small piece of fruit, such a small thing, but Eve took a bite of this small fruit and then Adam took part in eating this small fruit.
Church, I think both Adam and Eve thought this wasn’t much here but God did tell us not to eat from this tree but one little fruit can’t be all that bad.
This small sin brought forth every evil, rotten, wicked thing that has happened up to this very second.
What was lost here, being perfect, with no sickness, no dying, and no killings we lost everything good because of this one small little sin!
No church there is no small sin in God’s eyes!
Look further in Genesis in chapter 19, we see where God was going to destroy the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
God had told Lot to get his family out of the city because he was going to destroy these two wicked cities for all the sin they have and continue to commit.
But in verse 17, God told Lot to “Look not behind thee”, but also in verse 26 of that same chapter we read where Lot’s wife done such a simple, little thing.
A simple quick turn of the head, maybe just a peek, or a small glance and she was transformed into a pillar of salt.
Was this such a great sin? No, in our eyes this is a very small event but to God, this was no small sin.
God does not see things the way we see it, God in his love and mercy for us has let us go out into the world but when God has seen enough of the disobedience he will act swiftly and justly.
That’s just the way God works, I might not understand God at times but I know he is a just God.
Small sins, I do not think there is no such thing as a small sin.

2- Let’s look at the SECRET SINS for a moment, if you will let’s go back to Adam and Eve.
Right after Adam and Eve had taken part in eating the forbidden fruit, what did they do?
Chapter 3 verse 8
8- And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
You see they tried to hide their sin from God. They were going to keep this sin a secret.
Look you may hid your sins from me, your family or friends but you are not going to hide or keep them secret from God.
Let‘s look at another example of trying to hide a sin from God. In the New Testament in the Book of Act, chapter 5 verses 1-10, we see where Ananias and Sapphire went before Peter and gave part of the money he said he was going to give to God.
(READ VERSES 1-10)
I’m sure Ananias was thinking, Peter will never know I am holding back some. It will just be a secret that Sapphire and myself will keep to ourselves.
In verse 4 and 5 of that chapter, God did what was best. In verse 4 – we see the words brought before Ananias were, “Thou hast lied unto men, but unto God”
Verse 5, the judgement from God came back quick, we read here that it says Ananias fell down and gave up the ghost.
