Summary: THE REALITY OF SPIRITUAL SLOTHFULNESS
SLOTHFULNESS
OBSERVATION: MANY SCHOLARS ACKNOWLEDGE SOLOMON AS THE AUTHOR OF ECCLESIASTES. BIBLE SCHOLARS DISAGREE ON THE DATE OF THE WRITING. A GOOD THEME WOULD BE LIFE WITHOUT GOD IS MEANINGLESS.
INTERPRETATION: ECCLESIASTES 4: 5 (NKJV) A FOOL FOLDS HIS HANDS AND CONSUMES HIS OWN FLESH.
ECCLESIASTES 4:5 (THE BOOK) FOOLISH PEOPLE REFUSE TO WORK AND ALMOST STARVE.
THIS IS REALITY IN A FALLEN WORLD. SOME PURPOSELY DESIRE THIS LIFESTYLE EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NEAR STARVING. THERE ARE THOSE WHO LEGITIMATELY HAVE NOT FOUND WORK, HAVE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL ISSUES AND OTHER LIFE ISSUES. BELIEVERS SHOULD BE SENSITIVE TO THESE REALITIES.
SPIRITUAL SLOTHFULNESS IS A DEEPLY, TROUBLESOME ISSUE. THE DEFINITION FOR SLOTHFULNESS IS LAZY, HABITUALLY IDLE.
PROVERBS 18:9 (NKJV) HE WHO IS SLOTHFUL IN HIS WORK IS BROTHER TO HIM WHO IS A GREAT DESTROYER.
INDOLENCE IS A SLOW MOVING STREAM; IT EVENTUALLY DESTROYS EVERY VIRTUE A MAN HAS.
PROVERBS 19: 15 (THE BOOK) A LAZY PERSON SLEEPS SOUNDLY-AND GOES HUNGRY.
THE SOULED-IDLER PERSON IS VERY BUSY FOR EARTHLY THINGS: HE DESIRES NOTHING ETERNAL.
PROVERBS 22: 13 (NKJV) THE LAZY MAN SAYS, THERE IS A LION OUTSIDE! I SHALL BE SLAIN IN THE STREETS!
THIS INDOLENT DOES NOT HAVE THE SPIRITUAL CAPABILITY OR SPIRITUAL WEAPONS TO SLAY THE LION WHO WILL DEVOUR HIM!
APPLICATION: BELIEVER, YOU MUST AVOID HEART, MORAL, SPIRITUAL AND SOUL SLOTHFULNESS!
