Sinking Into God’s Word
Psalm 119:105:112
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
106 I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
107 I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.
108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.
109 My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.
110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.
111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.
I have entitled this today: Sinking In God’s Word
According to Hebrews 4:12, “for the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”.
As A Christian, according to Heb 6:5: And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
The Word of God is something that we, as children of God, are able to taste.
Psalms 119:105 says Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
The only lamp in the world that produces true spiritual light is the Bible.
The writer of this Psalm swore he was going to perform what it said.
We need to have a made up mind that no matter what happens, we are going to take our Word, (Bible) and do what it says to do.
1 Peter 1:23 says: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
We are Born again not by corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
John 1:1-4
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:14 says:
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
There will be times in this walk of faith where we will be afflicted, and there will be times that God will test us.
There will be times that our walks will not be easy, but remember we have the Word of God, if we have the Word then we have a hold of Christ Jesus and we will be all right.
According to Psalms 119:110, there will be times that the wicked will lay snares for me, but when they do stay focused on the Word of God.
The Word of God is your strength and you will make it through.
Pr 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
Church, we need to learn to run to the Word, run to the Lord and there will be safety.
Psalm 119:111
Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever:
Gods Word has not died off; Gods Word endureth to all generations.
The testimonies come from what is recorded in the Word of God.
If God revealed Himself to some in the Word: then why not me, why not you?
God showed up in the fiery furnace, God showed up in the lions den, God showed up when some were even in prison and set them free.
The Word of God has not changed but we have.
Psalm 119:112
I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.
To “perform” in Hebrew means to do.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Luke 1:1-4
1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;
3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
