IV. TEXT:

Leviticus 5:1 If you are called to testify about something you have seen or that you know about, it is sinful to refuse to testify, and you will be punished for your sin.

Pray that GOD will give us the courage and boldness to testify for His Glory.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. We are called to testify about His Goodness:

1. Do not be ashamed to testify (2 Timothy 1:8)

2 Timothy 1:8

So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.

2. Example: John, the Baptist (John 1:7-8)

John 1:7-8

7 to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony.8 John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.

3. Give honest testimony (Proverbs 12:17, Exodus 20:16)

Proverbs 12:17 An honest witness tells the truth; a false witness tells lies.

Exodus 20:16 You must not testify falsely against your neighbor.

B. We are held responsible if we refuse:

1. We are responsible watchman = watcher of souls or soul watchers (Ezekiel 3:17-19, Ezekiel 33:6-7)

Ezekiel 3:17-19

17 “Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for Israel. Whenever you receive a message from me, warn people immediately.18 If I warn the wicked, saying, ‘You are under the penalty of death,’ but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths.19 If you warn them and they refuse to repent and keep on sinning, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved yourself because you obeyed me.

Ezekiel 33:6-7

6 But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn’t sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.’

7 “Now, son of man, I am making you a watchman for the people of Israel. Therefore, listen to what I say and warn them for me.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Speak according to His Words!

To the Law and Testimony (Isaiah 8:20)

Isaiah 8:20

Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark.

Example: demon possessed man who got delivered (Mark 5:19)

Mark 5:19

But Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.”
