Sin and Judgment, Judgment and Sin

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

I have somewhat been following the story of Rod Blagojevich who is the former governor of Illinois who was charged with corruption. Corruption in our government is nothing new but, being charged, judged and sentenced is.

Rod Blagojevich thought he was above judgment. But, judge James Zagel sentenced Blagojevich on Wednesday on 18 counts of corruption and his sentence is 14 years in prison.

The news states this morning — Rod Blagojevich starts his Thursday facing a bleak countdown — 71 days before the twice-elected Illinois governor must say goodbye to his family and begin serving a 14-year sentence for corruption.

Rod Blagojevich who once challenged a prosecutor to face him like a man and made a mockery of the charges against him now stands humble and is quoted as saying "My life is ruined," he told judge Zagel. Accentuating each word, he added, "I have nobody to blame but myself. ... I am just so incredibly sorry."

Something else he said: "He also owed an apology to his family."I have ruined their innocence," he said quietly.

What kind of emotions do you have for Mr. Blagojevich right now? Glad he finally got what's coming to him. That was my first choice of words.

You remember what the Lord Jesus said to that bunch of Pharisees who wanted to stone an adulterous woman, “ He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her" John 8:7

And not one threw a stone that day. You and I need to recognize that we have to give account of ourselves to Him. I’ll be honest with you, that disturbs me a little. I am wondering how I am going to tell Him about certain things. So I can’t sit and judge you; I’m worried about old Ronnie Miller.

We carry on our daily life here on this earth and we see ourselves different than others see us. Some think they do not sin and never come to reason with the fact of what Paul said in Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; We are all guilty of sin because we come short of Gods glory. We all are sinners by nature....all means everyone!

Paul says in Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Everyone will stand before God without excuse and if you have not accepted Jesus as you Saviour, you will stand before Him and give full account of your life of sin with no forgiveness and only the judgment of Hell can be your verdict.

With all of the sins in life and never taken in account of who we might hurt by them and by that our sin becomes a stumblingblock for others we will answer for that. Also, don't think for one minute that you will get by with what you think of others.

The reason people judge others is because they can't see their self. Most have smoothed over their own sin by being self centered. Others judge people in their worth, prestige, education and stature of a public opinion.

There is one very sad note about former governor Rod Blagojevich. The quote when he said "He also owed an apology to his family. "I have ruined their innocence," he said quietly.

Not only can your sin ruin others life but, your judgment of others could do the same. God has supernatural hearing...He hears the heart and knows the heart of you and me. Love in Christ Jesus, Ronnie Miller www.themillersbiblestudy.com
