Simple Promises for Life’s Storms

John 6:15-21

I. We are Governed By His Providence

“Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go to the other side before Him…” – Matt. 14:22

A. Our storms are never incidental

B. Our storms never surprise our Lord

II. We Have the Potential to Grow by His Plans

“..you have enlarged me in my distress.” – Ps. 4:1

A. Our storms will grow our faith

B. Our storms will grow our fellowship

C. Different storms will grow us

1. Correcting storms – Jonah

2. Perfecting storms – the disciples

III. We Are Sustained By His Prayers & Presence

A. Jesus is an interceding Savior (Hebrews 7:25)

B. Jesus is an all-seeing Savior (Mark 6:48)

C. Jesus is an ever-present Savior (Matt. 14:25)

IV. We Can Overcome By His Power & Purpose (v. 20-21)

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

A. He declares His power in identifying Himself – “It is I…” v. 20a
