Shifts In Voices In The Scriptures

Summary: Understanding and recognising which person of the Trinity is speaking to us, as well as getting to know the person of the Trinity, is what makes our Bible reading interesting and intriguing.
When we read the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit, we could hear shifts in voices in certain verses or chapters. You hear different voices speaking. Sometimes Jesus speaks, sometimes Holy Spirit speaks and sometimes Father God speaks. For example, if a word or phrase is repeated three times in a verse, it represents the Triune God speaking: Father God is speaking, Jesus is speaking, and the Holy Spirit is speaking.
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts,
Come to the waters;
And you who have no money,
Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.” Isaiah 55:1
In Isaiah 55:1,
Father God says, "Come to the waters” i.e. Come to the living waters - come to the waters of provisions.
Jesus is saying: “Come, buy, and eat.”
The Holy Spirit is saying, "Yes, come and buy wine and milk without money and without price." Come just as you are to the living waters. Whether you have money or not, come. There is no price tag. The money you have is sufficient, and you do not need to collect additional money to come. Come just as you are to the living waters. Father God and Jesus are also asking you to come to the living waters.
The repeated phrase here is “Come to the waters”. The plan of God here is to bring you to the living waters. Father God reveals the plan, Jesus explains how he will fulfil it, and the Holy Spirit reveals the exact or particular details of the plan. In this verse, there are three shifts of voices: Father's voice to Jesus' voice to Holy Spirit's. There are three voices in the same verse. The Triune God is speaking in the same verse. The same word/phrase is repeated three times because all three members of the Trinity are saying it, and it will surely be fulfilled. There is no need for repetition of the same word/phrase thrice in this verse, but since God wants to surely fulfil it, this word is repeated thrice.
A threefold cord is not quickly broken, and a threefold promise cannot stay unfulfilled but it will surely be fulfilled. When all three members of the Trinity say the same phrase or promise, it cannot stay unfulfilled but will surely be fulfilled. This plan, where the Triune God is involved, is like a threefold chord that cannot be broken. These plans will surely come to pass because the Trinity is involved.
It's as if King Ahasuerus(Esther 1:19) passed a bill and signed it with his signet ring, which cannot be revoked even by the king himself. This promise of coming to the living waters is a bill passed by God and signed by His signet ring, and it cannot be revoked by God himself. The promise will surely come to pass. God is inviting you to come to the living waters, which will surely happen because the Triune God has confirmed it.
The Holy Spirit helps us understand and grasp the tunes or voices in the Bible, as well as recognise the shift of voices. Father's voice is a resounding or revelation-filled voice that can lift us out of your deepest sorrow and bring us back to life. Jesus’s voice is preparing and correcting voice which will make us align to the Father's will. The Holy Spirit's voice is a comforting and fulfilling voice. Shifting of voices, crossing boundaries from one person of the trinity to another, and identifying which person of the trinity is speaking to you, makes Bible reading wonderful and enjoyable.
Just like a ship sails in the ocean with big, small waves, when you read the scriptures, you will encounter great, small, and still waves of God's voice. Sometimes the voices ring loudly in your heart, sometimes they are still, and sometimes they are pleasant and satisfying. When you hear these great, small, and still waves of God's voice, the Triune God becomes very real. Each person of the Trinity has a voice and when we hear a voice(in the Bible) we must understand and recognise which member of the Trinity is speaking to us. Each member of the Trinity have a distinct voice, style, and authority. The Bible contains so many instances of the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit speaking. Understanding and recognising which person of the Trinity is speaking to us, as well as getting to know the person of the Trinity, is what makes our Bible reading interesting and intriguing.
Knowing all three members of the Trinity, hearing their voices and growing to know them personally, is what makes Bible reading enjoyable. If you have not had such an experience, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the voice of the person of the Trinity speaking in scripture. It will surely be a blessing if you understand the shift in voices and recognise the person of the Trinity speaking in the scripture.
