Seven Sins Sneaking into The Sanctuary
Part 2: Synthetic Salvation (manmade)
2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith
Death Statistics Worldwide:
1.78 deaths per second
106.8 deaths per minute
6408 deaths per hour
153,792 deaths per day
59,134,080 deaths per year (based on 365 days per year)
Hebrews 9:27 …it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Eternal destiny is sealed at death
Prove (test) your own selves
I.. Types of Synthetic Salvation:
--Preacher Salvation:
He said I was saved
Following a preacher instead of Jesus will lead to Hell
Acts 4:12 “No other name whereby ye must be saved”
--Denominationalism Salvation:
Are you saved? “I belong to…”
I am proud to be a Southern Baptist but church membership does not save.
John 10:9 – ‘I am the door”
--Salvation of Sincerity
Many are sincere in there beliefs (Mormans, Islamic, Jehovah’s Witness), but they are sincerely wrong.
Rom 10:2-3
--Emotional Salvation
Trusting in feelings
Goosebumps, hot feeling, running salvation, pew jumping.
These "may" be an expression of a feeling, but salvation is not a feeling, it is faith based upon a promise from God.
My feelings go up and down depending upon my circumstances. My salvation does not change based upon my circumstances.
Not a feeling, but a promise
1 John 5:11-13
--Ritualistic Salvation
Tongues, baptism, communion
Galatians 2:21 (KJV) I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Although these are part of the Christian faith, they do not bring salvation.
--Salvation by Works
Good ole boy die and go to Hell. Saved die and go to Heaven.
Rom 3:10-11 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
II. God Made Salvation
--Salvation by Grace
--John 14:6 (KJV)6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
--Romans 6:23
--Repentance and Faith
III. Examine Yourselves
--Know your own selves, how that Christ is in you
IV. Except ye be reprobates
--Reprobate: ad-ok’-ee-mos – unapproved, rejected, castaway
--Examine yourselves so that when you stand before God you will not fail the test
--Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)
--They knew the truth, but they never received the Truth.
--They were so sure they were saved, they argues with Jesus -- they failed the test of repentance and faith
Closing:
• One day you will die, it could be today, you will be at one of two places, examine yourselves.
Jonathon Edwards – Sinners in the hands of an angry God
•"There is nothing that keeps wicked men at any one moment out of hell, but the mere pleasure of God."
•There is no lack of power in God to cast wicked men into hell at any moment. Men’s hands cannot be strong when God rises up. The strongest have no power to resist him, nor can any deliver out of his hands.-He is not only able to cast wicked men into hell, but he can most easily do it…Though hand join in hand, and vast multitudes of God’s enemies combine and associate themselves, they are easily broken in pieces. They are as great heaps of hay before devouring flames. We find it easy to tread on and crush a worm that we see crawling on the earth; so it is easy for us to cut or singe a slender thread: thus easy is it for God, when he pleases, to cast his enemies down to hell. What are we, that we should think to stand before him, at whose rebuke the earth trembles, and before whom the rocks crumble?
•The wrath of God burns against them, their damnation does not slumber; the pit is prepared, the fire is made ready, the furnace is now hot, ready to receive them; the flames do now rage and glow. The glittering sword is sharp, and held over them, and the pit hath opened its mouth under them.
•The devil stands ready to fall upon them, and seize them as his own, at what moment God shall permit him. They belong to him; he has their souls in his possession, and under his dominion. The scripture represents them as his goods. The devils watch them, thry stand waiting for them, like greedy hungry lions that see their prey, and expect to have it, but are for the present kept back. If God should withdraw his hand, by which they are restrained, they would, in one moment, fly upon their poor souls. The old serpent is gaping for them; hell opens its mouth wide to receive them; and if God should permit it, they would be immediately swallowed up and lost.
