Summary: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:38-42
38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and
heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Are we doing the thingt that ara needful or are we doing the things that are Necessary Things ?
Sometime we have to let the Necessary things go undone so that we can do the Needful things
(1) Martha has choisen to do the Nessary things
A. Martha received
But to bizzy serving the Lord she had no time to spend
with the Lord
B. Marth was Cumbered.
about much serving,
The Greek word (periespato) means
1 to bepulled away or
2 to be pulled apart
3 "distracted,"
4 " overburdened."
Martha, Martha.
But one thing is needful.
Martha thought "many things" were necessary for the Lord’s comfort, and was wearing herself out to prepare them.
Her company meant more to JESUS than her cooking.
C Martha call JESUS, "LORD" Boss
Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?
If we call him Lord why are we talling him what to do ?
We should be seting at His feet not telling him what to do
Jesus answered and said unto her,
D Martha, Martha, thou art careful and
troubled about many things:
1 Careful
2 Troubled
Her company meant more to JESUS than her cooking.
(2) Mary, Has Chosen the Needfull Thing
A. which also sat at Jesus’ feet
B. also heard his word.
"means that she was continually listening to the Master,
or that it was her custom to do so."
Her company meant more to JESUS than her cooking.
C Mary, Has Chosen the Good things
42But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
It is Easier to do all the Nessary things than to do the one Needful Thing
One thing is needful that is to set at Jesus’set at the feet
It is harder to Pray with power than to fight the battle
Ex 17:9-13
9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12 But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
Do you Know Jesus ?
