    based on 9 ratings

I am giving up Lent for Lent this year, at least the way the Church typically does Lent. Lord is not interested in what I give up for just 40 days and return to it. He is interested in me giving up the sins in my life which will make Easter more joyous

TITLE: GIVING UP LENT FOR LENT SCRIPTURE: ST LUKE 9:22-24 / II CORINTHIANS 13:5-6 Although Easter is the most significant of the Christian holidays it does not enjoy the kind of enthusiastic fanfare afforded Christmas or even Thanksgiving. Lent is a forty-day period before Easter. It begins on ...read more

    based on 26 ratings

I don’t want to preach to you about tithing. I want to encourage you to live a generous life! Jesus said more about money than anything else.

A minister was speaking about all the things money can’t buy. “Money can’t buy happiness, it can’t buy laughter and money can’t buy love” he told the congregation. Driving his point home he said, “What would you do if I offered you $1,000 not to love your mother and father?” A hush fell over the ...read more

In this smessage I am hoping to ptovide some motivation for our people to increase their giving by making a sacrificial gift to the church. At the conclusion of the message i emphasized the chest of Joash.

“Money Matters” Matthew 6:19-24 About 15 years ago when we lived in Kentucky Denise had just tucked our kids in for the night and Ross was playing with a penny. Actually what he was doing was trying to se just how far back on his tongue he could put it. Well you can probably guess what ...read more

I don’t know: *I don’t know why when you are ...read more

Contributed by Andy Moyle on Feb 29, 2016
     | 8,594 views

Worldly favour is fickle, but divine favour, grace, is God's "I'm for you" attitude. Learn how to receive it and grow in it like Jesus

Favour is a fickle thing in the world. In the Lion the witch and the wardrobe, there is a scene where Edmund is betraying his family. He is a King of Narnia, but doesn't know it. The evil Queen has offered him the chance to be a prince, if he brings the rest of the family to her. She wants to kill ...read more

As we discuss things that we love more than God, we take a look at our love of our cell phones.

We started a new series last week called I HEART. We talked about New York. New York’s slogan is I HEART NEW YORK. There are hundreds of different things to love about New York… shopping, food, tourist attractions, sports, tall buildings… pretty much everything. But the slogan was written by ...read more

  • Tithing

Contributed by Dean Morgan on Sep 2, 2004
    based on 19 ratings

I don’t believe for one minute that tithing buys God’s blessing. But I do believe that it opens a door – or better, a “window” – of release for God to bless continually and mightily.

TEXT: Malachi 3:6-12 TITLE: TITHING Let me begin by making three statements about tithing: 1. Tithe means “a tenth” – Genesis 28:22 – “And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will surely give a tenth to You.” The word tithe in the Hebrew ...read more

“Thanks Giving” Luke 17:11-19 I am guessing that each of you sat down on Thanksgiving Day with people that you love and you likely began your meal by expressing thanks. Someone said this past week that Thanksgiving is perhaps the purest of all of the holidays in that no one is giving gifts or ...read more

Paul buoys himself and the Phillipians with a promise from God that encompasses twelve can do’s that are antidotes for the poison of "can’t do attitudes":

How To Keep Going When You Can’t Go On 2 Cor. 4:1-18 I believe my sermon title tonight would be called a oxymoron. It doesn’t hardly make sense does it. Yet, there are times when we must keep going when we just feel like we can’t. Have you ever said, " I just don’t know how ...read more
