Summary: You may feel like you’re in Lo-debar forgotten, overlooked, or crippled by life’s circumstances. But take heart: the King is calling your name. He will remember you, lift you, and set you at His table.

God Will Remember You

Scripture: 2 Samuel 9:1–13

Introduction:

Have you ever felt forgotten like everyone moved on and your name was erased from the hearts of those who once knew you? Sometimes life’s troubles, disappointments, or even your own failures can make you feel hidden. But let me remind you today: God never forgets His own. In His time, He will remember you.

The Story of Mephibosheth:

Mephibosheth was the grandson of King Saul and the son of Jonathan, David’s best friend. When Jonathan died, Mephibosheth was only five years old. In the chaos, his nurse dropped him, and he became crippled in both feet. He lived most of his life in a place called Lo-debar—a barren land, a forgotten place.

Years later, after David became king and God had given him rest from his enemies, David asked a simple question: “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul, to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” (2 Samuel 9:1).

They brought Mephibosheth before the king. He bowed low, expecting judgment or rejection. But instead of condemnation, David said:

“Don’t be afraid… for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.” (2 Samuel 9:7)

Lessons from the Story:

God’s Covenant Faithfulness:

David remembered Jonathan’s covenant. Likewise, God remembers His covenant with you through the blood of Jesus. Even when you feel unworthy, His mercy finds you.

From Lo-debar to the King’s Table:

Mephibosheth went from obscurity to honor in a single day. He was crippled, but that did not disqualify him. Your weakness does not cancel God’s plan. One word from the King can change your position forever.

Restoration and Favor:

David restored Saul’s land to Mephibosheth. In the same way, God is able to restore lost years, lost opportunities, and broken dreams. “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.” (Joel 2:25)

God Never Forgets:

Even when men forget, God remembers. Joseph was forgotten in prison—but one day Pharaoh remembered him. Hannah was barren, but one day God remembered her. Mephibosheth was forgotten in Lo-debar—but the king remembered him. And one day, God will remember you.

Conclusion:

You may feel like you’re in Lo-debar forgotten, overlooked, or crippled by life’s circumstances. But take heart: the King is calling your name. He will remember you, lift you, and set you at His table.

Declaration:

“This month, I declare I will not be forgotten. God will remember me, restore me, and bless me. I will sit at the King’s table in Jesus’ name.”
