Summary: When God commanded light to emerge, he did not discard darkness. He separated light from darkness and created day and night. The Lord that separated light from darkness will separate you from every work of darkness in Jesus name.

TEXT: GENESIS 1:3-4 (NLT)

"Then God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness."

LIGHT AND DARKNESS

When God created light, he did not discard darkness. He only separated light from darkness. Physical darkness may have some benefits, but there is nothing good in spiritual darkness. God had to send Jesus to dispel spiritual darkness and let the light of life to shine upon the heart of men. God will separate you from the works of darkness in Jesus name.

THE LIGHT OF LIFE

"The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up" (Matt 4:26). Jesus is the light of the world and wherever he goes, spiritual darkness gives way to the light of life (John 8:12). According to Luke 1:79, Jesus came: "To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace." When Jesus enters the heart of a man, he separates the man from the unfruitful works and fellowship of darkness (Eph 4:11).

FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT

Sin enslaves men in the dungeon of darkness. Sinners can only receive the light of life when they accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. They are then translated from darkness into life. "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son" (Col 1:13)

Those who have received Jesus and believe in his name are separated from spiritual darkness. They are children of light.

PRAYER:

Father, deliver me from the power of darkness. Shine your light into my life in Jesus name.

CONFESSION:

I am the light of the world. My light will shine in darkness.

God bless you. Shalom.
