OASIS WORD FOR TODAY

Peter was born into a fisherman’s family in the Galilean fishing town of Bethsaida. By the time he was a young man, he had learned the fishing trade and had entered into a business partnership with his brother Andrew on the Sea of Galilee.

The background suggests that Peter and Andrew were rich with experience and very skillful when it came to fishing.

Sometime later, as Jesus continued his ministry in Galilee, he sought Peter out on a day when the fishing had been poor and Peter and his business partners had decided to use the remainder of the day repairing nets.

The evangelist tells us the following: At the Lake of Galilee Jesus taught the people from the boat belonging to Simon Peter. After his discourse He said to Simon: "Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch. And Simon answered, 'Master, we have toiled all the night and took nothing!'" (Luke 5:4b-5a).

Peter, who had years of experience with fishing, faced a dilemma, a challenge. A carpenter is teaching him how to do his job. A carpenter is instructing him on what to do for a catch.

A carpenter gave an experienced fisherman a command that was totally at odds with his professional experience.

During the night there was a much greater prospect of a good catch. If one did not catch anything during the night, the chances of a good catch during the day were even smaller.

Moreover, Peter was dead tired after a night of fruitless work. At that moment Peter was inwardly tense. On the one hand

Peter did an act of faith by contradicting his professional experience as a fisherman. He let down his ego and Ph.D. in Fishing and did exactly as the carpenter suggested.

Immediately something happened. The supernatural happened.

It takes faith, humility, and obedience to the word of the Lord to tap into the supernatural.

The secrets to unveiling the supernatural are not about your professional experience and the degrees you have zipped in your bag. Your ego will fail you. We all know Peter to be very hot-tempered and egoistic. But at that moment, Peter had to cool down his temper and drop his ego to access the supernatural.

Do you want to see the supernatural? Clear your doubts, stop giving out excuses, and start walking with the Word of God. Drop all your rational and logical reasons to do as directed and instructed by the Spirit-filled men of God.

"Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets". Amos 3:7 (NIV)

Peter had to first clear his doubts and pocket all the reasonable excuses not to do or carry out any instruction from the carpenter.

Luke tells us how such acts of faith are richly rewarded. "And when they had done this, they enclosed a great shoal of fish, and as their nets were breaking, they beckoned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats so that they began to sink." (Luke 5:6-7).

The realms of the supernatural are the realms of abundance. It is the realm of bestowment of God's blessings upon His obedient children. The supernatural realms are realms where prayers are answered and needs are met. It is the realm of notable breakthroughs and miracles.

The King James Version says, "Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught." "Draught," pronounced the same as the English word "draft," is a Middle English term for "pull." This is why "draft horses" pull loaded wagons. Newer translations use "catch."

Indeed, when the supernatural took place there was a heavy PULL... He and his companions struggled to pull the overflowing nets on shore. When the Lord does something, He doesn't do it halfway.

All expectations had been exceeded. The nets started to break and the boats almost sank under the load. The overflowing net made a deep impression on Peter. "For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the catch of fish which they had taken..." (Luke 5:9).

The supernatural realm is the realm of astonishment. It is the realm of seeing God in action doing the unthinkable and giving you far more than you could ever imagine or expect.

Now to Him who can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us". Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

When you are connected to the supernatural, you can expect God to answer your prayers and give you much more than what you asked or expected from Him.
