Youth Group Plan: Saved from Sin (Matthew 1:18-25)

Youth Sermon: Saved from Sin

Introduction

Today, I've got a cool object lesson to help us understand it better. But first, let me ask you a question: Have you ever felt trapped or stuck in a bad habit or situation? Yeah, we all have. But guess what? God wants to help us break free from those things!

I have a mousetrap here. Imagine this mousetrap represents the sin and bad habits that trap us. When we're stuck in sin, it's like being caught in this mousetrap. It's painful and hard to escape. But Jesus came to set us free from this trap! Here’s what I want you to walk away with: God is with us and wants to save us from the power of sin in our lives.

God is with us and wants to save us from the power of sin in our lives.

Bible Story

Let's dive into a story from the Bible about Jesus' birth. Mary and Joseph were just ordinary people, but God chose them to be Jesus' parents. They faced some pretty tough situations, like when Mary got pregnant before they were married. Joseph could have left her, but he chose to trust God and stay with her.

Lessons from the Story

1. Jesus saves us from our sins: Jesus came to save us from the power of sin in our lives. He doesn't just forgive us; He helps us break free from the things that hold us back. So, if you're struggling with something, remember that Jesus is here to help you overcome it.

2. God is with us: Jesus is also called Immanuel, which means 'God with us.' God isn't far away; He's right here with us, helping us through our struggles. So, when you feel alone or like God is distant, remember that He's always with you.

3. God trusts us to work through difficulties with courage: Just like Joseph had to trust God and face some tough situations, we can also trust God and face our challenges with courage. God is with us, and He'll help us through whatever we're facing.

Application

So, how can we apply this to our lives? When you're struggling with something, remember that Jesus is here to help you break free. Talk to God about it, and ask for His help. And don't be afraid to share your struggles with a trusted friend or adult who can support and pray for you.

Prayer

"God, thank You for being with us and for saving us from the power of sin. Help us to trust You and face our challenges with courage. Remind us that we're never alone, and give us the strength to overcome whatever we're facing. In Jesus' name, Amen."
