The world’s money says, “Keep me for yourself.” God’s money says, “Save me for a purpose.” We need to find the balance between saving wisely and hoarding, focusing on honoring God with our money.

Youth Group Plan: Save Me (Matthew 19:21, Matthew 6:19-20)

Youth Sermon: Save Me

Introduction

Today, we're going to talk about money! But before we dive in, let's do a little object lesson. I want you all to imagine you've just won a million dollars. What's the first thing you'd do? Buy a new car? A house for your parents? Or maybe you'd save it all?

Imagine you've just won a million dollars. What's the first thing you'd do?

Matthew 6:24

Now, let's see what the Bible has to say about this. In Matthew 6:24, Jesus says we can't serve both God and money. That's a tough one, right? Especially when we live in a world that tells us we need more and more money to be happy.

Saving vs Hoarding

So, what's the difference between saving and hoarding? Well, saving is smart. It's about being prepared for the future. But hoarding? That's when we start to trust in our money more than we trust in God.

Remember the story of the Israelites in the desert? God gave them just enough manna for each day. If they tried to hoard it, it would go bad. God was teaching them to trust Him for their daily needs.

And what about that rich young man Jesus talked to? He told him to sell all his stuff and give to the poor. That doesn't mean we shouldn't save, but it does mean we should be generous and not let our money control us.

Our Real Home

Here's the thing, guys. Our real home isn't here on earth. It's in heaven. And the stuff we accumulate here? It's not going to last. Jesus tells us not to store up treasures on earth, but in heaven.

Practical Application

So, what does this all mean for us? It means we need to learn to be content, no matter how much or how little we have. It means we need to trust God to provide for us. And it means we need to use our money in ways that honor God.

Here's a practical idea: next time you get some money, whether it's from your job, your allowance, or a gift, take a moment to pray about what to do with it. Ask God to help you use it wisely and to honor Him.

Prayer

Let's pray together now.

God, help us to trust You with our money. Help us to save wisely, to be generous, and to honor You with everything we have. Amen.
