Preach Christmas week
To explore the theme of sanctification by God, our dedication to serving and worshipping Him, and the importance of living out our purpose of sanctification as outlined in the scriptures.
Good morning, brothers and sisters! I'm so excited you've joined me today as we delve deep into the heart of God's word. We're going to explore a theme that is woven throughout the entire tapestry of scripture - the sanctification of us by God, our dedication to serving and worshipping Him, and living out our purpose of sanctification. It's what Charles Spurgeon, that great preacher of old, once said, "Sanctification is not the believer's work, but it is the fruit of Christ's work."
Now let's look at our scripture passages for today. Leviticus 20:7-8 says, "Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the LORD your God. Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD, who makes you holy." In 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, we read, "May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it." Ephesians 4:1 urges us to "As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." And then in Romans 6:19,22, we are reminded, "I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness...But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life."
