SALVATION’S PROOFS

7/13/08 Romans 5:1-5

1. Therefore = refers to chap 4 & how we are not justified

a. Not by works vs. 1-8

b. not by ordinances vs. 9-12

c. not by law obedience 13-25

2. And how we are justified

a. by faith

1. PEACE 1

A. Peace with God – Cessation of Hostility

1. gospel : reward given to msgr. bore news victory

2. Bible teaches we were enemies of God

a. dead in trespasses and sin

3. Fighting a war we could not win

Colossians 1:20

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself

B. Peace of God – Possession of Tranquility

1. Peace which is God Himself

2. quietness; rest; reconciliation

a. joy it brings

C. Peace by God

1. His Gift to His Children

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Isaiah 57:20-21

But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. 21 There is no peace, says my God, to the wicked.

C. Without Human Intermediaries

A. Recognition

1. “this grace” –that freed us from sin

a. that delivers us to heaven

b. that restores us when we fail

2. wherein we stand

a. abiding –at home

b. continuing – can’t be removed

c. living – all we do can be surrounded by this grace!!

B. Rejoicing

1. Boasting and exulting

a. We are justified, or regarded by God as righteous.

b. We are admitted into his favor, and abide there.

c. We have the prospect of still higher and richer blessings in the fullness of his glory when we are admitted to heaven. — Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament

2. hope –anticipation; expectation; confidence

What do we hope for?

3. the glory of God Heaven!! - land of no more

Revelation 21:4-5

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

4. glory –same Greek word translated Rejoice in Vs. 2

a. tribulations- pressure & persecutions

1. Patience – endurance; cheerful staying under

Matthew 5:10-12 (KJV)

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Luke 6:22-23 (KJV)

22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. 23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

5. Experience - character

a. quality of someone or something when put to the test rings true

b. ‘to put to the test for the purpose of approving, and finding that the - tested meets the specifications,

c. proven to be trustable

6. hope

1. No matter how bad it gets or how long it lasts

a. this too shall pass- everything about us passing

2. Heaven – no way to describe; words limit/no limit

a. departed loved ones – Bible heroes

b. God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost

There is coming a day when no heartaches shall come

No more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye.

All is peace forevermore on that happy golden shore,
