Explore the concept of salvation as a divine dance between our choice to follow Jesus and His powerful work to rescue us.

Introduction

Good morning, church family. Today, we are diving into the heart of the Gospel, a message that's all about the power, the source, and the purpose of salvation.

Our key verse is John 10:10, where Jesus tells us, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

This verse speaks right to the core of why Jesus came to earth.

A.W. Tozer once wrote, "Salvation is from our side a choice, from the divine side it is a seizing upon, an apprehending, a conquest by the Most High God. Our 'accepting' and 'willing' are reactions rather than actions." So, we'll be exploring this divine dance between our choice to follow Jesus and His powerful work to rescue us.

Let's pray together.

Father, we thank you for the gift of salvation. We stand in awe of your love for us, that you would send your Son to die so that we could live. Open our hearts and minds today as we discover more about this incredible gift. In Jesus's name, we pray, Amen.

Now, let's get started!

The Power

The power of salvation is a force that transcends human understanding, a divine intervention that rescues us from the clutches of sin and death.

Rooted in the person and work of Jesus Christ: It's through His sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection that we are saved. As the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes." The gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, is not just a message, but a power - a power that brings salvation. It's a power that breaks the chains of sin, that liberates us from the bondage of guilt and shame, and that brings us into a new life of freedom and joy in Christ.

Not something that we can earn or achieve on our own: It's not a result of our good works or moral efforts. Rather, it's a gift of grace from God. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." The power of salvation is a divine gift, a manifestation of God's unmerited favor towards us. It's a testament to His love and mercy, a demonstration of His desire to redeem and restore us.

Our transformation: It's about becoming new creations in Christ, about being transformed from the inside out. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" The power of salvation is a transformative power, a power that changes us, that molds us into the image of Christ, that empowers us to live lives of love, holiness, and service.

A power that brings hope: It's a power that assures us of eternal life, that gives us a hope that transcends the trials and tribulations of this world. As Titus 3:7 says, "So that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." The power of salvation is a power that gives us a future and a hope, a power that assures us of our eternal destiny with God.
