1. Have to understand the "why"
A. I must understand inherent sinfulness [Ephesians 2:1,5; Colossians 2:13, Romans 3:10-28]
B. I must meet an impossible standard [Romans 7:6, Matthew 5:48, James 2:10]
C. I must escape an inescapable bondage [Colossians 1:13,21, Romans 5:10]
D. I must face an inevitable conclusion [Romans 5:9, Ephesians 2:3, I Corinthians 3:15, II Corinthians 2:15, II Thessalonians 2:10]
2. Have to understand the 'law'
A. God's Son [Acts 4:12]
B. God's Spirit [John 16:8, John 3:5]
C. God's Scriptures [II Timothy 3:15]
D. God's grace [Ephesians 2:8-9]
E. God's power [Romans 1:16]
