2 Timothy 3:14-4:5 The Sacred Writings
1. Paul stresses the importance of the “the sacred writings” :
• Then Sacred Scripture is the collection of holy and inspired writings officially and recognized in the Christian canon. They are written through the instrument of human hands but authored by God
• There were many sacred writings but never got cannoned such as “The Gospel Of Thomas, Gospel of Peter, Shepherd of Herman, the Didache, Acts of the Apostles, and Epistle of Clement
• Paul tells us: The Sacred Writings are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ” (3:15). He says, “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work” (vv. 16-17).
• Sacred writings are inspired by God — “God-breathed” (v. 16),
• The sacred writings train us in righteousness and equip us for every good work.
2. These Sacred Writings Inform us of the Divinity of Jesus
• All the sacred words are connected to Jesus
• The gospel of John tells us that in “the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. … And the Word became flesh and lived among us” (1:1, 3-4, 14).

• The sacred writings tell us, Jesus is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), showing us the grace and truth of God.

3. Sacred Writings heals us, calms us, guides us, and pulls us together
