Psalm 85:6 KJV
Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
NKJV
Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?
INTRO:
This scripture needs to become our prayer.
Needs to become the cry of the church
The cry of the intercessors
May we not just hear the scripture but begin to pray this scripture.
As we open this up
I pray that we might not just listen to another message but begin to make this our prayer this morning and untill we have experienced this.
The psalmist starts with a question
Wilt thou revive us again?
First we need to understand what is revive
To revive something there had to be a place in time that the condition of the item to be revived was better than its current condition.
Another word could be restore
Revive
a. to have life to continue in life, remain alive
b. to sustain life, to live on or upon
c. to live (prosperously)
d. from sickness
e. from discouragement
f. from faintness
g. from death
h. to preserve alive, let live
i. to give life
j. refresh
k. to cause to grow.
l. To bring back a new
We want to look at
1)Intensity or fervor
2)Acknowledge who has the power to revive.
3) When do we pray this?
4)Desired purpose or result expected
1)Intensity or fervor
a. Not just a normal tone but a cry from the depth of the heart
b. The intensity that leads to confession and repentance.
c. search my heart oh Lord
d. Cry for mercy
e. Psalm 80:14-19
14Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts;
Look down from heaven and see,
And visit this vine
15And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted,
And the branch that You made strong for Yourself.
16It is burned with fire, it is cut down;
They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
17Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand,
Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.
18Then we will not turn back from You;
Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
19Restore us, O Lord God of hosts;
Cause Your face to shine,
And we shall be saved!

c. Psalm 121:2 My help comes from the Lord
3) When do we pray this?
a. The psalmist must have been looking at a time when life was simpler or better.
b. Remembering a time when there was a great move of God when the psalmist was younger.
c. A time you where in the midst of a great move
d. Maybe just stories you have heard of a great move of God
Pray this prayer:
Lord what you have done in the past, you can still do, Will you revive us that we might rejoice again.
You can do even greater than the past.
Another time to say this prayer:
a. During a time of trouble or when it seems life has lost its sense of pleasure
b. Or as if you are under a cloud.
c. Discouraged
d. Depressed
e. Lonely
f. Broken
g. A time of Sickness
a. Will you revive us again that we might rejoice and be made whole with new strength.
h. When times in society are dark
a. Lord will you not revive us again that we might rejoice I you again restore our neighborhoods that there is rejoicing in the streets
i. When times in the church are dark our efforts seem to be ineffective in our church in our life
a. will you not revive us again that we will rejoice in you.
b. Will you bring back life to the ministers of your church
j. For the backslidden
a. Wilt you not revive us again that we might rejoice in you bring back those that have backslidden bring back to life those that have strayed.
k. For your church leaders church members
a. Pray more for church leadership
i. Easy to criticize the leadership
b. Will you revive your workers that we might rejoice in you
c. Revive fresh strength into our life into your church
d. Revive your sleepy or complacent children
e. Revive your backslidden children
f. Revive your church leadership
g. Revive your families
