Summary: No such thing as good magic

Sorcery is the practice of using occultic practices to control situations and people. A second definition is when we turn to evil sources to get the answers only God can give. As we look at TV, movies, games, and books, the occult is everywhere. At an early age, we are introduced to witches, wizards, magic spells, dragons, ghosts, and many other kinds of witchcraft through cartoons and games. We see characters casting spells to change their situations, themselves or get revenge against an enemy. The movies usually have a happily ever after ending because of magic. Girls in bad situations get the handsome prince with the help of magic spells or potions. The poor become rich, the ugly become beautiful, the bad guys are turned into toads or disappear with the wave of a magical wand. The unpopular character becomes popular after using occultic power to either change their looks or the people around them so they can have the happy life they want. There's an old lady dress in strange clothes who can predict the future. We see ghosts portrayed as funny characters that pull silly pranks on people and are our friends despite Leviticus 19:31 telling us “Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God.”

Dragons are seen as friendly companions who make us laugh by accidently burning something they shouldn't; even though Satan is known as the great dragon.

These children's cartoons and movies make witchcraft look like fun...so fun that numerous kids try to see if they can cast a spell, fly, or predict the future. What nobody realizes is that while parents may think it's just a cute little cartoon, movie, or TV show, the spirit realm sees it as an open door to wreak havoc in the lives of these kids. They'll either be harassed, oppressed, or even possessed. These spirits can cause illnesses in the mind or body. They can make it difficult for a child to receive Christ or stay with Him as they get older. Even worse, these same spirits that get on kids can get passed down in the form of generation curses until repentance occurs. Sorcery isn't child's play. It's serious, big-league stuff and should never be touched. EVER.

We should never try to manipulate a situation to suit our needs and desires. If what we desire is in God's will, it will happen in due time. If not, then we need to realize God has something much better on the horizon. Using Satan's power and demons will only lead to disaster. Yes, there are people out there who used successfully used witchcraft to get what they want, but the euphoria they feel will eventually fade. The Bible tells us God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man sows, that he shall also reap. The result of those who use sorcery is destruction. The money ill-gotten will be transferred to another. The man/woman they manipulated away from their partner will eventually leave. The terrible things they sowed into the lives of others by way of curses and spells will manifest in their own lives.

Same thing with emotional witchcraft. People can use sorcery to manipulate other people emotionally, socially, sexually, physiologically, and spiritually. Parents manipulate their children. Spouses manipulate their partners. Pastors manipulate their congregation members. Teachers manipulate their students. Employers manipulate their employees. A circle of people is manipulated by a strong-willed member who eventually becomes leader of the group. How? By using threats of harm, using their emotions to invoke sympathy, making fake promises of the good things that will come if they do their bidding. A father can bring fear to his children by threatening disownment unless they do what he wants. A mother can bring her grown son to his knees by using tears. She'll cry to invoke sympathy and he'll do her bidding just to make her happy. A husband can manipulate his wife by controlling the money. He'll threaten to cut her out of his will or take her off his life insurance if she doesn't do his bidding. A wife can manipulate by withholding sex from her husband or threatening to leave him unless he gets her what she wants.

A manipulative pastor will tell his members that if they do this or that, they'll either be cursed by God or go to hell. A teacher will threaten to ruin their students GPA by giving them a failing grade. Unless they bend to their wills. A horrible manager can withhold a promotion from a deserving employee unless they do something that goes against either the laws or their morals. Or they will threaten termination.

These manipulative people think if they get their way, they'll be happy. And they might be temporarily. In the end, they'll find themselves alone. The manipulative parents will find themselves with no relationship with their children. The manipulative spouse will lose their partner. The manipulative pastor will watch his ministry crash down around him. The manipulative teacher and employer will in time lose their positions of authority once they came across a student or employee with the means to bring them down.
