Revelation 12:11 is a very powerful verse and receiving this truth will help us to be victorious in life. Let's check what it says in different translations, for a deeper meaning.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony - NKJV

They triumphed over him

by the blood of the Lamb

and by the word of their testimony - NIV

They won the victory over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the truth which they proclaimed - GNT

And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony - AMP

What this verse is saying is that we have already overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. It's not saying that we will one day overcome Satan but that we have already overcome him because the death and resurrection of Jesus is already fulfilled.

Who are the people that have defeated Satan?

- The people that have received the gift of salvation

- The people that love the Lord with all their heart, soul , mind and strength.

- The people that obey Him.

- The people that walk in total forgiveness.

- The people that live by faith.

We cannot defeat Satan if we have not done any of this. The WORD of God is the truth and God stands by His WORD, He said heaven and earth will pass away but His WORD shall not pass away. God's WORD will last forever.

The blood of the Lamb was shed for us all, but unfortunately Satan who is the god of this world as blinded a lot of people's mind from receiving the gospel truth of Jesus Christ and in line of these they cannot be overcomers or be able to defeat Satan.

The meaning of the word overcomer.

- It's a person who overcomers something.

- One who succeeds in dealing with or gaining control of some problem.

- A victor

- A conqueror

The blood of Jesus that was shed caused us to be overcomers in Him and through Him. To be overcomers we are to be partakers of his death and resurrection, the blood was shed for us and not for the angels, it was because of mankind that Jesus went on the cross.

When Jesus cried out - "It is finished"! before He gave up His last breath and rose up after three days we immediately became overcomers and we already defeated Satan. Jesus fought the battle for us all and gave us the victory.

There are two major things that as occurred in this powerful verse.

The first promise:

Is that we overcome him - Satan by the blood of the Lamb

How?

1 John 5: 4 - 5

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Luke 22:20

Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

Revelation 1:5

And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.

Revelation 7:14

And I said to him, “Sir, you know.”

So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Romans 5:9

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

1 Peter 1: 18 -19

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

John 6: 55 -59

For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever. These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.

The blood of Jesus is a covenant blood because it's not an ordinary blood, we are in a covenant relationship with Him because of the blood that was shed. This covenant cannot be broken by Him because He is a covenant keeping God, and a faithful God. God will keep His promise but we are the ones that fails to keep to his will for our lives by not walking in obedience to His WORD.
