Resurrection Power
Contributed by David Scudder on Nov 28, 2017 (message contributor)
Summary: Until the resurrection of Jesus Christ, death was a dark and foreboding prospect. But, when Jesus rose from the dead He gave us a new hope for life beyond the grave. That same powerful transformation can be yours today. As we look at what happened to the
So, we can reach out by faith and know the resurrected Christ today. "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you " (James 4:8a).
"You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13).
Vs.28-29 C. The result is fervent worship "My Lord and my God!"
The fact that Jesus accepted this worship proves that He claimed to be God. If He was not God then He was either a LIAR or a LUNATIC. It is not contradiction to say that Jesus was both God and man. I can be a husband and a father at the same time.
After Jesus was taken back into heaven it says, "And they, after worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising God" (Luke 24:52--53).
At the end of the age all believers will join together before the throne of God and "... fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created" (Revelation 4:10-11).
Vs.30-31 D. The reward is eternal life "you may have life in His name"
These two verses are the key that unlocks the whole book of John. Here we see why John wrote the book and why he included the miracles from Christ's life that he did.
Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10:10).
"I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness " (John 12:46).
CONCLUSION: The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the crowning proof of Christianity. If the resurrection did not take place, then Christianity is a false religion. If it did take place, then Christ is God and the Christian faith is absolute truth.--Henry Morris [2]
As I close, let me ask you, "Have you personally met the risen Christ? Has Jesus transformed your life?"
