Results of Prayer Luke 11:1-14
Charles Spurgeon shared about folks praying in church for revival these folks who were praying he called them the Boiler Room.
Evan Roberts prayed for revival in 1904 in Welsh England and the fire fell from heaven and started a revival that reached to the US. He said, "He built the altar, he laid the wood, now waiting on the fire." The fire fell and amazing things happened.
Robert Sheffy also known as the Saint of the Wilderness prayed for towns and disruption to stop and miraculously moonshine stills were destroyed by acts of nature. Families and homes were restored when Sheffy prayed. Souls were saved in revival as a result of his prayers.
1. The Disciples Request “Teach us To Pray as John did His Disciples”
• Why the Request? The disciples, probably witnessed Jesus' powerful and intimate prayer life, recognized the importance of prayer in his ministry and personal relationship with God. They desired to experience that same connection and effectiveness in their own prayers.
• Maybe they had heard or seen When Jesus prayed Heaven opened up Luke 3:21 21When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
• When Jesus was faced with challenge in the wilderness He Prayed
• When Jesus was making some big decisions he Prayed the choosing of the 1212One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. 13When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them
• Jesus prayed inorder to commune with God the Disciples witnessed this . luke 5:16But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. In Luke 10 Peter John and James encounter Jesus praying 28About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray
2. Jesus told the Disciples how to pray he said,
• Address God as Father "Father" (or even "Abba," meaning "Daddy" in Aramaic) was a revolutionary concept in their time. It signifies an intimate, trusting relationship, before you should fear God not address God
• Address God as Hallowed : "Hallowed Be Your Name’ Sacred consecrated holy
• Address God to reign in your life Your Kingdom Come" (Luke 11:2) Is this a call to action thy will be done in my life Live out Kingdom values—serve others, seek justice, forgive
• Address God as one who gives daily provisions "Give Us Each Day Our Daily Bread" (Luke 11:3) Disciples rely on God Daily, Physical, and spiritually I trust you God to provide
• Address God to forgive me "Forgive Us Our Sins, as we forgive those who transgress against us (Luke 11:4)
• Jesus says to Address God to Protect you "And Lead Us Not into Temptation" (Luke 11:4)
This is a plea for God's guidance and protection from spiritual attacks and challenges that could lead us away from him. We have Victory Through Christ:
3. We Pray because we need help we need divine intervention if so, lets address God
• King Hezekiah addressed God (2 Kings 20:1–6) Faced death, prayed earnestly, and God added 15 years to his life.
• Elijah addressed God (1 Kings 17:20–22) Prayed over a dead child, and God restored life.
• Peter addressed God (Acts 9:36–42) Prayed for Dorcas (Tabitha), and she was raised from the dead—leading many to believe. This miracle led many in Joppa to believe in the Lord
•
