To encourage us to reject idolatry and distractions of the world, and instead choose to faithfully obey God, embracing the blessings that come with this obedience.
Good morning, family! Today, we're diving deep into the book of Deuteronomy, specifically Chapter 31, verse 16. The passage says, 'And the Lord said to Moses, 'You are about to rest with your ancestors, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.''
Here, we see a clear warning against idolatry and disobedience, but also a promise of blessings through obedience. We're going to explore these themes and, hopefully, learn how to apply them in our daily lives. As the wise Reverend Billy Graham once said, 'God doesn't want us to be something we're not. He wants us to be who He created us to be.' God doesn't desire blind obedience. Instead, He wants us to choose Him, to reject the idols and distractions of this world, and to walk faithfully in His ways.
So, let's pray as we begin. Father, open our hearts and minds to Your Word today. Guide us in understanding and applying these teachings in our lives. Help us to reject the lure of idols and to embrace the blessings that come when we choose to obey You. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen. Now, let's dive into this Scripture together...
