Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
No matter the burdens we carry in life, we can find ultimate comfort and rest in Christ.
Good morning, my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, we're going to soak in the sweet words of our Savior from Matthew 11:25-30. We're going to immerse ourselves in the understanding of Christ's invitation, the burdens we bear in life, and the ultimate comfort that only Jesus can provide.
As we prepare for this, let's reflect on the words of the renowned Christian author, C.S. Lewis, who once said, "God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain." This quote is a reminder that in bearing our burdens, we are not left to struggle alone.
Let's read together from Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 11, verses 25-30: "At that time Jesus said, 'I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.'"
Let's pray. Father, we thank you for this day and for your Word that is a lamp unto our feet. As we delve into this teaching, open our hearts and minds to fully understand your invitation, the burdens we carry, and the comfort you provide. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen. Now, let's unpack this powerful passage together.
