Responding To The Prophetic

Confirm the word

If a word of prophecy is given, especially if it is a major life changing one, make sure it is confirmed. Such confirmation could be another prophecy, a Scripture, or something similar which clearly reflects the will of God for you. Make sure that other witnesses are independent and neutral.

Prepare yourself

Prophecies are always conditional. A prophetic word that has been confirmed will come to pass as long as you understand that there is a process that must be followed and implemented. When you receive a prophecy, you must do your part to be effective. Ask the Lord to reveal any prerequisites that must be accomplished before the word can be fulfilled.

2 Timothy 1:6 - Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Write down your prophecies

Habakkuk 2:2 - Then the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.

God moves slowly

Habakkuk 2:3 - For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

Pray your prophecies into manifestation

1 Timothy 1:18 - This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare.

Be responsible

It is good to desire a prophetic word but it is not advisable to chase after personal prophecy. Build a close relationship with God and He will make it His business to bring you every resource that you will need in order to fulfill your Godly purpose. If you look for a word over your life, you will find one, but it may not be what God is saying to you.

Study the Word

Joshua 1:8 - This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Fellowship with the Holy Spirit

1 John 2:20 - But you have an anointing from the Holy One and you know all things.

John 16:13 - However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Do not be over cautious

1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 - Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good.

Submit

1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Hebrews 13:17 - Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

Live by faith

2 Kings 4:3 - Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors-empty vessels; do not gather just a few.

A prophetic word means there is a process
