Summary: Apostle Paul counseled the Colossians on what they should live and what they should forsake for holy living.

1. Good WORKS in life.

a. The RENEWED life.

*verses 10-11, (to put on the NEW man which is NOW renewed)

Col 3:10  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Col 3:11  Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

b. The RESEMBLANCE to Christ.

*verses 12-14, (in the LIKENESS of the LORD Jesus Christ)

Col 3:12  Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

Col 3:13  Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Col 3:14  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

2. God's WORK among them.

*verse 15, (the PEACE of Christ becomes the PRECEPT in their hearts)

Col 3:15  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

3. God's WORD in teaching.

*verse 16a, (the WORD of Christ that is full of WISDOM)

Col 3:16a  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;

4. God's WORTH in worship

a. The SINGING for God

*verse 16, (they should SING psalms, hymns, and SPIRITUAL songs)

Col 3:16b teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

b. The SURRENDERSHIP to God

*verse 17, (with GRATITUDE in their hearts to GOD)

Col 3:17  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Conclusion: God has called us to destroy the WORKS of evil in this WORLD. But how can we do that if we are still united with the DEVIL in DOING bad things? Let us PUT OFF the old life and PUT ON the new life for successful Christian living.
