INTRODUCTION

There was once a young man who lived in a small village. He had a deep desire to know God, but he struggled with his old habits and ways of thinking. One day, an elderly man in the village gave him a Bible and said, "If you truly want to change, let this book renew your mind."

At first, the young man did not understand. He read the words but felt no different. However, as he continued, something began to shift. The more he meditated on the Scriptures, the more his thoughts changed. He no longer saw life through the lens of fear and defeat but through faith and victory.

This is the power of renewal through the Word of God. Romans 12:2 tells us:

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

The world constantly tries to shape our thinking—through culture, media, and societal expectations. But God calls us to something greater: a transformation that comes through His Word.

THE WORD OF GOD BRINGS LIGHT

There was a man who lived in darkness. Every night, he stumbled over furniture, knocked over objects, and hurt himself. One day, someone brought him a lamp. As soon as the light filled the room, everything changed.

The Psalmist declares, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105).

God’s Word illuminates our path. Many times, people live in confusion, not knowing what to do. But when the Word enters, it brings clarity. It reveals truth, exposes lies, and gives direction.

Have you ever been in a place where you didn’t know the next step to take? Open the Word. It will guide you.

THE WORD OF GOD PURIFIES THE HEART

A young boy once asked his grandfather, "Why should I read the Bible every day if I keep forgetting what it says?"

His grandfather handed him a dirty basket and asked him to fetch water from a river. The boy tried, but every time he ran back, the water was gone.

"Try again," the grandfather said. The boy repeated the process, but with the same result.

Finally, the boy said, "Grandfather, this is useless! The water keeps running out!"

The grandfather smiled and said, "Look at the basket."

The boy looked down and realised the once-dirty basket was now clean.

"You see, my son, reading the Word of God daily may not always seem to make an immediate difference, but it cleanses your heart over time."

Psalm 119:9 asks, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your word."

If you want true renewal, let the Word wash over you daily.

THE WORD OF GOD GIVES STRENGTH IN TIMES OF WEAKNESS

There was a man named Elijah, a prophet who had seen great miracles. Yet, after a season of intense ministry, he became weary and discouraged. He sat under a tree and said, "Lord, I have had enough! Take my life!" (1 Kings 19:4).

But then, an angel brought him food and said, "Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you." (1 Kings 19:7).

Just like Elijah needed physical food, we need spiritual food from the Word to strengthen us. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the Word of God is living and powerful. When we feel weak, it revives us.

Have you ever felt tired, drained, or spiritually empty? Feed on the Word. It will renew your strength.

THE WORD OF GOD REVEALS OUR TRUE IDENTITY

A young girl grew up believing she was worthless. Every time she looked in the mirror, she saw someone who wasn’t good enough. But one day, she read in the Bible:

"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:14)

That day, something shifted inside her. She realised that she was not what the world had told her—she was what God had spoken.

Many people struggle with identity because they listen to the wrong voices. But James 1:22-25 compares the Word to a mirror—when we look into it, we see who we truly are.

If you want to be renewed, stop listening to the lies of the world and start listening to the truth of God’s Word.

CONCLUSION:

BE TRANSFORMED BY THE WORD

The young man from the village, who was given a Bible, continued reading. Over time, he became a completely different person. His mind was renewed, his actions changed, and his life took on a new purpose.

This is what happens when we allow the Word of God to transform us.

It brings light to our path.

It purifies our hearts.

It strengthens us in weakness.
