Summary: There are so many sites across America that reminds us of the sacrifices made by so many for our nation. Today we as a nation by our actions are slowly removing those things that reminds us of our God.

Remembering God

Exodus 3:13-15

Memorial Day is a time to reflect upon the personal sacrifices many Americans have made for the advancement of this nation.

This all began when a small group of people sailed to land for religious freedom and in doing so many died.

Since then we have evolved into a nation that has shed its blood at home and many places abroad.

Wars:

• American Revolution 25,000 death

• Civil War 625,000

• World Wars I & II Totaling almost 522,000

• Korean War 36,500

• Vietnam 58,209

• Iraq and Afghanistan 6,280

Memorial sites are place throughout the lands in America to remind us of the personal sacrifices made by the men and women of our military. Oftentimes we forget these and even more so the memory of our God.

The monuments of Him left by our founding fathers have been slowly removed in the past 50 to 60 years or so.

Mention: Exodus 3:15 This is My name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations

Psalms 135:15 Thy name, O LORD endureth forever; and thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.

Throughout the history of Israel God would require them oftentimes to establish a memorial of His great acts:

See: Exodus 13:8-9 A memorial of their deliverance from Egypt

And: Exodus 17:14 Of their first major conflict with the Amalekites

Mention: Joshua 4:7 Twelve stones a memorial of their crossing of the Jordan River

See: Hosea 12:5 The LORD is his memorial

Several things that need never to forget and should be a memorial in our hearts of the Lord:

1. Remember Thy Creator

Mention: Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth

See: John 1:1-3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.

In the past 60 years there have those who would want you to believe that you evolved into existence. They have been successful of having His name removed from schools, courts and other public places but the witness of Him is all around us.

Mention: Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handy work.

2. Remember His Commandments

See: Proverbs 3:1 Let thy heart keep My commandments

The Two Great Commands:

• The Command To Love

Matt. 22:37-40

Mention: Matt. 24:12 Because iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold

• The Command To Witness

Mention: Mark 16:15 Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel

What a difference it would make in our lives if we ordered our steps according to His commands!

3. Remember His Crucifixion

Mention: John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory as the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.

See: Luke 22:19-20 This is (sacrificial) which is broken for you (substitution)

1 Peter 3:18 The just dying for the unjust

It was sufficient:

4. Remember His Coming

At His first coming He died a brutal death on the cross for our sins, but when He comes again He will give the sentence of death to all who have rejected Him.

See: Hebrews 9:28

His second coming He will set up His kingdom and will rule and reign from the throne of David.
