As we go through life's ups and downs, it's comforting to know that God is always with us, faithfully remembering us and hearing our prayers.
Let's read together from the book of Esther, chapter 9, verse 28:
These days should be remembered and observed in every generation by every family, and in every province and in every city. And these days of Purim should never fail to be celebrated by the Jews—nor should the memory of these days die out among their descendants.
God's faithfulness in remembering His people is a central theme throughout the Bible. Time and time again, we see God's unwavering commitment to His people, even when they are unfaithful to Him. This steadfast love and faithfulness are not based on our performance or worthiness. His love is rooted in His character and His promises. As we explore the idea of God's faithfulness in remembering His people, we will look at several aspects of this powerful truth.
His covenant promises: Throughout the Old Testament, we see God entering into covenant relationships with His people, such as the covenant with Abraham, the covenant with Moses and the Israelites, and the covenant with David. Even when Joseph is sold into slavery and imprisoned, God is with him, guiding him and ultimately using him to save his family and the nation of Israel from famine. This story serves as a powerful reminder that God is always at work in the lives of His people, faithfully remembering them and working all things together for their good.
His constant presence: In the Old Testament, God's presence is symbolized by the Ark of the Covenant and the pillar of cloud and fire that led the Israelites through the wilderness. In the New Testament, Jesus promises His followers that He will be with them always, even to the end of the age. In sending His Son to die on the cross for our sins, God demonstrated His unwavering commitment to His people and His faithfulness in remembering us. Through the resurrection of Jesus, we have the assurance of eternal life and the promise that we will one day be with Him forever.
