REMEMBER LOT’S WIFE
Luke 17:32
I. HER DANGER WAS GREAT.
“Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah
brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he
overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the
inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the
ground” Genesis 19:24,25.
A. SHE LIVED IN A WICKED CITY.
“But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the
LORD exceedingly.”Genesis 13:13
1. There was the air of normality.
“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat,
they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they
builded;” Luke 17:28
2. There was an absence of morality.
B. SHE WAS WARNED OF COMING JUDGMENT
“Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this
city.” Genesis 19:14
1. She was warned by angels.
2. She was warned again and again.
II. HER DELAY WAS FOOLISH.
“His wife looked back” Genesis 19:26
A. SHE REMEMBERED THE THINGS SHE LEFT BEHIND.
1. She remembers the possessions she left behind.
2. She remembers the people she left behind.
a. She remembers the friends she left behind.
b. She remembers her family she left behind.
B. REGRETABLY SHE LOOKED BACK.
III. HER DECISION WAS COSTLY.
“She became a pillar of salt.” Genesis 19:26
A. HER DEATH WAS SUDDEN.
“For the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23
B. HER DEATH WAS SHOCKING.
“The wrath of God cometh upon the children of
disobedience.” Ephesians 5:6
Conclusion: (1 Samuel 12:15) But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers. (KJV) (Hebrews 2:2-3) For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; (KJV)
